References in Second Battle of N'Djamena

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that three of the references you used in the article Second Battle of N'Djamena only cite the first letter of the name and surname of the author and pages used. Is there any specific reason why you didn't put the name of the Book/Journal or anything else you used? I want to expand Chad related articles so I am looking for more sources, if you could tell me what are the names of Books/Journals I'd be grateful OakMapping (talk) 13:58, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, those three references cite different pages of already cited books. To explain, "T. Cooper, p. 40" and "T. Cooper, p. 22, 39" are in reference to "Cooper, Tom (January 19, 2015). Libyan Air Wars Part 1: 1973-1985. Helion, Limited. p. 34. ISBN 9781910777510", while "S. Nolutshungu, p. 133" is in reference to "Nolutshungu, Sam C. (1996). Limits of Anarchy: Intervention and State Formation in Chad. University Press of Virginia. p. 136. ISBN 9780813916286."

I have seen this style of referencing for different pages of already referenced books used on a plethora of other Military history articles, presumably in order to save space, so assumed it commonplace. My apologies if I was incorrect, and I hope this response helps. UncleBourbon (talk) 16:26, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for replying. When I think about it I believe I saw this type of referencing before but I didn't know exactly how it functions, so thanks for clearing that up for me. OakMapping (talk) 18:09, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
