Welcome
[edit]Hello, VerumRex and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Adam9007

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Arthur Morgan.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Arthur Morgan.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:38, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Arthur Morgan.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Arthur Morgan.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:23, 11 May 2019 (UTC)
Image copyright
[edit]Hello, I saw that you have uploaded images to Wikimedia Commons under a Creative Commons license, however I cannot see where the image was ever released into the public domain or under a Creative Commons license. With any images, always assume that the content is copyrighted in a way that would prohibit it from being uploaded to Commons, even if the copyright is missing or the file was uploaded to a public social media site such as Twitter.
Now as far as fair use on Wikipedia goes, fair use only covers images that are present in live Wikipedia articles. It doesn't cover the sandbox, which is why your earlier attempts to add the images to Wikipedia posed an issue. Putting them on Commons isn't a good solution per the above rationale.
I know that I'm not working with your class, but I would like for you to review the training module on uploading images and media, thanks. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:21, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
- Also, a quick note about sourcing. Be very careful with the sourcing when trying to create an article on a fictional character. What you need here are sources that specifically focus on the character of Arthur Morgan, as you need to show where he's independently notable from the game itself. You also want to make sure that the sourcing is considered to be reliable on Wikipedia. For example, IMDb is not usable as a source because anyone can edit it. This page goes over the various links that are considered to be either reliable, not reliable, and when some sources can/should be used, so I definitely recommend reviewing it. For example, this discussion about Twinfinite as a source ended with the page being considered generally unreliable. It's definitely a valuable source.
- Also, I'd generally avoid Forbes as a source unless it's written by a staff member. This was written by a contributor, which means that Forbes didn't provide any editorial oversight or verify anything. As such, senior contributor articles on Forbes are seen as non-reliable self-published sources. This is honestly something that surprised me the first time I learned about it, so no worries if this surprises you - it's not something that a lot of people know until it's pointed out on Wikipedia.
