YOUR BOT OWNS[edit]

Barnstar
I, User:Messedrocker, award Werdna648 a barnstar for his incredible bot which is awesome at archiving talk pages. Keep it online! 02:24, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, my first barnstar! WerdnaTc@bCmLt 02:37, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good. It would be a good thing to provide some diffs of the vandalism, though. You can see what I've done here, although that may be a bit overboard. Snoutwood (talk) 19:01, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Contact started! Thought you'd like to know that I'd begun. Cheers, Snoutwood (talk) 01:44, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit summaries and new(?) signature[edit]

Please consider not using "bitch" in your edit summaries. Although I know you're insulting yourself, and understand you have the right to do so, it still makes me uncomfortable, especially when you voted in someone's RfA.

P.S. Is that your new sig in the section just above this one? The link to your userpage is broken (unless you're planning a change of username) and personally I find your old sig just nice, and the new one too bright and flashy. Kimchi.sg 03:27, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Relax, it wasn't intended to insult anyone at all. By bitch, I was just making the point that it was pretty strong support. I'll try to be more careful not to make comments that could be misinterpreted, though. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 15:43, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

:-)[edit]

Thank you. --serbiana - talk 22:11, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you contributed to discussions at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Israel News Agency. It was deleted by User:Danny, but not done as an Office Action. As you contributed to the original AFD, I was wondering if you would take the opportunity to make comment at DRV. Please note that if it remains deleted then I'm not terribly fussed. However, given that the community found that it was notable and should be kept, and it was not slanderous (that I can see) then I relisted it. - Ta bu shi da yu 12:05, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Dear Werdna648 — Thank you for your support on my recent RfA. It succeeded with a final tally of 72/2/0 and I am now an administrator. I'll be taking things slowly at first and getting used to the new tools, but please let me know if there's any adminnery I can help you with in the future. —Whouk (talk) 18:15, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Succesful RFA![edit]

RfA thanks[edit]

Thanks
Thanks
Werdna648/Archive/Archive-May06, thank you you so much for validating my RfA! I am grateful for all the supportive comments, and have taken both the positive and constructive on board. If I can ever make any improvements or help out in any way, please let me know, ditto if you see me stumble! Thanks again for your much appreciated support. Deizio talk 18:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

nice ask?[edit]

Do you think, perhaps, you might shorten you signature? It is seven lines long in my browser, which can really make editing pages difficult. --Doc ask? 21:56, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While your signature has a nice parse lenght, in edit mode, it is a monster (and I though mine was bad). Could you consider trimming some of the fat to make editing a bid easier? Thanks.Voice-of-AllT|@|ESP 03:32, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look at it. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 14:11, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I've made some modifications. What do you think? WerdnaTc@bCmLt 23:45, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Better thanks. But I'd still ask, is it really neccessary to list your e-mail contibs tools etc? Anyone who wants these can get them from your userpage - there is not need to spam links and clutter pages like that every time you sign. All that is really needed is a link to your user and talk pages.--Doc ask? 00:53, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

I wanted to thank you for the kind barnstar you gave me the other day, which I assume was in response to the demands that I be sanctioned on AN:I from the users I've working with. I keep worrying that someday someone is going to come along and say, "Wow, this guy really is a trigger happy jerk", and start proceedings against me. Trouble is, I've been working with two ethnic groups that have a lot of hatred between them, so the only way to get them to the table and talking is to stop the personal attacks, incivility, and edit wars cold. So I thank you again for your vote of confidence. In the midst of all these threats, demands, and whatnot, it's nice to hear. :) --InShaneee 02:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, there's a bot for that? Sure, I'd love that! I've been simply deleting really old discussions, mainly because archiving is a pain. What do I need to do to 'sign up'? --InShaneee 23:57, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Add {{subst:User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Template|age=(age in days of oldest message in discussions to archive)|target=(insert a target)|dounreplied=(do not insert a value here to have it archive only discussions with >1 timestamp (i.e. replied discussions).)}} WerdnaTc@bCmLt 00:02, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So just to make sure I've got this right...I'll need to periodically change the second value to update archives...will I need to create the archives myself, or will the first instance do it for me? And what should I do with the last value if I want it to archive everything? Thanks in advance, this is gonna save me a lot of time! --InShaneee 00:07, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
1. Yes, you will, unless you want them by month, in which case use (!month) as a semi-variable for the current 3-letter abbreviation for the month. 2. It'll create the archives for you; 3. It will archive everything with a timestamp (otherwise it wouldn't know how old everything was and would be confused as to when to archive. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 00:14, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
So I actually put !month (even though it makes the template look funky?) --InShaneee 00:41, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Erm, this is a bit awkward, and I'm not sure what I did wrong in the syntax, but the bot moved a whole ton of stuff off of my talk page, and didn't put it anywhere (its controbutions verify this)... --InShaneee 03:10, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nvm, figured it out. Appears to have just used my previously screwed up template to make the page. Seems to be working now, thanks! --InShaneee 03:44, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Werdnabot problem[edit]

Werdnabot has been doing strange things. I just archived a discussion to the article !month. Please acknowledge! THanks. Mangojuicetalk 02:28, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Some kind of archiving gone wrong[edit]

I noticed that there's an article named !month that appears to be a problem with a page your bot was archiving. I think it was archiving User talk:InShaneee. It's been nominated for a speedy deletion, but you might want to check on it first and fix the problem. --Elkman - (talk) 02:30, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, you didn't see these messages right away. I moved !month to User:Werdnabot/!month so you can take a look at your leisure, and we can delete the page from the article space. Mangojuicetalk 03:11, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I had this nasty thing called sleep. This is not a malfunction of Werdnabot; it is the result of whoever's user talk it was being set to archive to !month, rather than to User talk:User/Archive-(!month)06. This was probably a good faith mistake. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 11:40, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Would your bot like to do some spamming for me?[edit]

First of all, I got your response on my talk page, and I will email you my code in ASCII format sometime within the next week. I do have a copy of .NET laying around somewhere, but I would prefer that if you modify it you simply tell me what changes you made or send it back in ASCII format, so that I can keep it v6-compatible. Anyway, I'd actually like to ask you if your bot would mind distributing some spam for me this week-end. With the release of v1.0 and 1.1 I posted messages on each VP user's talk page notifying them that the download was available (probably in violation of WP:BOT, but no one complained), and I would like to do the same with v1.2. I'm planning on releasing it this Sunday, and I currently have 312 users whom I'd like to notify, which I think is a bit excessive from a non-bot account. I can get you the full list of users in whatever format you need as well as the full text of the message, or, if you'd prefer, I can show you how I did my past spamming using VP. I'm probably going to want the messages posted around 6:00 (UTC) on Sunday, but it's not really that important as long as they're distributed within a day or two. Anyway, if you'd be willing to do this for me it would be much appreciated, or I can go post a message on bot requests. Thanks! AmiDaniel (talk) 00:29, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'll check with some members of the bot approval group. If so, I can just modify my own spam tool to copy it off your checkpage for vandalproof. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 00:58, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, robchurch has refused to allow me to do this. He asked that I suggest you use AWB instead. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 01:03, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm ... I can't say I really understand his reasoning, but okay. My concern was that I'd be blocked for not using a bot flag while posting messages at a rapid rate, but if Rob says that's the way to do it then I guess it must be right... I just hope that no RC patrollers start screaming at me when the RC is clogged up with 300+ edits from me lol. Anyway, thanks for your help; I may just not post my notices this time, as it seems like just a bit too much stress. AmiDaniel (talk) 19:50, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:5 pillars of islam[edit]

I didn't vandalize it. I reverted vandalism. I used popups, so maybe I reverted to a version that had vandalism in it, but understand I only had good intentions. Have a good day!-- The ikiroid (talk)(Help Me Improve) 18:08, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As I've explained on your user talk page, this was my mistake, in the excitement of testing a new antivandalism tool. Thanks for bringing this to my attention promptly. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 18:21, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DYK archival needed - part 2[edit]

Is Werdnabot ready to take on DYK archival? I'm asking now, because the question popped up again on Wikipedia talk:Did you know yesterday. Kimchi.sg 01:43, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archive bot[edit]

User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Howto. I just created it. Enjoy =). WerdnaTc@bCmLt 01:30, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a bunch, nice work --K a s h Talk | email 20:19, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I would have edit conflicted you on Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion a minute ago, but was partially reverting the person you were reverting, and expanding on parts of it. I do NOT want to edit war over a policy page and think resolving it on the talk page is the only way to get it to stick. Please look at our difs and see if my "right version" (sarc) is OK for now. (Please reply on my talk page if you are going to reply directly to me). — xaosflux Talk 03:24, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't really mind, I just found the revisions made by the anon, esp. the edit summaries, a little too bold for my taste. An anonymous user reverting an established user like Tony Sidaway, then making a number of changes that seemed to be overly bold for such a contentious area looked like something that should be reverted and discussed before anything else happened. Anyway, I like your version for the time being. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 03:30, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warned?[edit]

Why did I get warned for vandalizing? I reverted the contributions of a blocked user- [1]--Kungfu Adam (talk) 04:03, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm.. possibly a malfunction. I double-checked because you were a user, but evidently my anti-vandal patrol tool still has some glitches to be worked out. WerdnaTc@bCmLt 04:10, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My RFA[edit]

Thank you, Werdna648, for voting in my RFA. It closed with a final result of 75/1/0. Now that I am an administrator here, I will continue to improve this encyclopedia, using my new tools to revert vandalism, block persistent vandals, protect pages that have been vandalized intensively, and close AFD discussions. Any questions? Please contact me by adding a new section on my talk page. Again, thanks to all of you who participated!!! -- King of 23:01, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia 1.0[edit]

Hi Andrew, and welcome to the Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team! I wanted to find out what projects you might be interested in working in. We currently need help at Core Topics, and we will very soon need help contacting WikiProjects and reviewing [[nominations for the test CD release. We are currently re-assessing the main core topics table, and as we do this we add the core topic template containing the assessment to the talk page, as in {{Core topic|class=B}} (see Talk:Animal for an example). In a week or two we will start a mass contact of all the WikiProjects and encourage them to use the new automated assessment handling. We will also open up V0.5 at around the same time. Is there something there that would interest you? Thanks, Walkerma 06:08, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving[edit]

Hi, The auto-archive bot is a very useful idea. It's probably something to do with the way I've set it up, but I can't find the archived material subsequently. I'm using the code <!-- BEGIN WERDNABOT ARCHIVAL CODE --><!-- This page is automatically archived by Werdnabot-->{{User:Werdnabot/Archiver/Linkhere}} <!--This is an empty template, but transcluding it counts as a link, meaning Werdnabot is directed to this page - DO NOT SUBST IT --><!--Werdnabot-Archive Age-10 DoUnreplied-Yes Target-User_talk:Dlyons493\TestArchive--><!--END WERDNABOT ARCHIVAL CODE-->

Any comments appreciated.

OK just noticed I'm using a \ rather than a / - that's probably it! I've made the change on my Talk page and will check the next archive. Dlyons493 Talk 10:02, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
