William Nassar is a Canadian of Lebanese origins most outstanding and successful composers. He has achieved world acclaim as a solo recording and performing artist, as a member of several musical organizations and as one of today's leading political "protest" composers and singers who promote peace and non violence in the middle east.

William Nassar albums have been runaway hits in Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan and other Arab states, as well as Canada, the United States and Europe, especially after his hit song "Ala Tareeq Aytat, Biki Dam", which been released on the year 1986 and re-recorded on 2015 under the title "A Red Hymn".

William Nassar, belongs to Albatroon city in Northern Lebanon, but he was born in the village of Batroomeen (House of God), on December 25th, 1966. He lived in Lebanon until the age of 20, where he was subject to an assassination attempt by the "Islamic Amal movement", supported by the Syrian regime, for his radical support to the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, and his family house was burnt down, as well as, all his childhood and family pictures.

On 1993, after the end of the civil war in Lebanon, Nassar decided to leave Lebanon voluntarily to Canada, where he call it the "Voluntarily exile". In Canada, he pursued his P.h.D. degree in musicology with a minor in Ethno - Musicology. He taught musicology and Ethno-Musicology at various number of universities and musical conservatories in North America, in addition he was hosted to lecture about Arabic and Middle Eastern music at number of universities in Europe as well.

Beside his academic and musical activities, he chaired Awlad Albalad "Sons of the Land" peace activist group, where they were active in defending the political detainees. Awlad Albalad was dissolved on February 2015.

William Nassar participated in number of International musical festivals in Canada and abroad: Italy, Moscow, Germany, Norway, Denmark, France, Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium and Cuba, Canada and the United States, etc. William Nassar (talk) 07:32, 19 September 2015 (UTC) He received numerous awards and recognitions:[reply]

  -Internationl Ethnic Music Festival in Canada, May 1988.
  -Medal of honor from the Palestinian government for his role in supporting the Palestinian cause, and breaking Gaza siege, 2009.
  -In 2013, William Nassar was honored by North American - Arab university graduates, as the best Canadian musician of Arab descent.
