Smithsonian Institution Archives Edit-a-Thon and Meetup!

[edit]
Who should come? You should. Really.
She Blinded Me with Science: Smithsonian Women in Science Edit-a-Thon will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Smithsonian Archives in Washington, D.C. This edit-a-thon will focus on improving and writing Wikipedia content about women from the Smithsonian who contributed to the sciences. It will be followed by a happy hour meetup! We look forward to seeing you there!

...and if you do not live in the Washington, D.C. area, please forgive the intrusion and you can delete this invite! Sarah (talk) 04:49, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Assignment

[edit]

Hey there! I just wanted to check in and see how things were going with your Wikipedia project. I noticed that you haven't made any changes to the Telecommuting article. I didn't see anything in your sandbox either, although I know you might have been working in a different space that I can't immediately see. Anyways, I know the midterm is due in a couple weeks and just wanted to make sure you were on track and had everything you needed to get this done! Let me know if I can help with anything, including technical issues or just some general review/feedback about what you're working on. If you haven't gotten started yet, I would urge you strongly to start immediately! — Preceding unsigned comment added by MyNameWasTaken (talkcontribs) 04:25, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Telecommuting

[edit]

Hi! Just checking in! Remember that you can connect to other pages within Wikipedia as exemplars of what you are describing as well as references about telecommuting. While many people will be adding primarily academic resources, you can add newspaper and more popular press articles as this topic receives attention from both scholars and practitioners. Thanks!! Turnj (talk) 12:52, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful not to directly copy form the sources you are adding. This introduces copyright problems and is a serious problem. See WP:CV. Kuru (talk) 01:22, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your addition to Telecommuting has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Kuru (talk) 01:31, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for trying to re-word the addition, but you have another copyvio right in the middle of it. I'd love to help you with this problem, but you're going to have to communicate. Please STOP editing the page until you understand the issue, and please respond here! The section in question is "WebWorkerDaily suggests daily IM, voice, or video chats to kick off the day." which is exactly copied from the source. You may not copy something directly from a source - does this make sense? Kuru (talk) 02:17, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
