You are right! I have just added the information on his participation in 2nd Chess Olympiad at The Hague 1928.--Mibelz, 8:28, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! --Yoavd (talk) 09:06, 28 September 2008 (UTC)DD[reply]

Hi! I see that you were one of the participants in the recent AfD on the article Christianity and Judaism. That AfD recommended (in a snowball result) that the article be merged into Judeo-Christian. However, since the AfD concerns have been raised, most notably

  • Per WP:ADJECTIVE and WP:MOSNAME, we use nouns and noun-phrases for article titles, not adjectives. So a general survey on the relationships between Christianity and Judaism (a topic this encyclopedia should certainly cover) should be called Christianity and Judaism, as per the articles Christianity and Islam, Islam and Judaism.
  • The reason the article Judeo-Christian exists, as its own hatnote declares, is specifically to survey the history and use of that word-phrase -- which has its own controversy, and its own tale to tell. (See here where I've set things out in a bit more detail.) That story is a good fit for its own article, and will get completely lost if the contents of Christianity and Judaism get inappropriately dumped on top of it.

Having contacted the closing admin, his advice was to open a new discussion at Talk:Christianity and Judaism, advertise the discussion widely, and if a new consensus can be reached in that discussion [his emphasis], then per WP:CCC the new consensus should be followed, rather than the AfD decision, without the need for a DRV or a new AfD.

Concerns about the proposed merge have also been expressed by Slrubenstein (talk · contribs), LisaLiel (talk · contribs) and SkyWriter (talk · contribs).

This post is therefore to let you know that that discussion is underway, at Talk:Christianity and Judaism#Overly speedy deletion, with a view to perhaps setting aside the AfD decision.

Of course, some significant issues were raised in the AfD about the article in its present form, so the best way forward is a question that needs some thought. Please feel welcome to come and participate! Jheald (talk) 07:50, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Look at the Swedish Chess Championship, please. In 1921, Gustaf Nyholm as the champion drew a match with Allan Nilsson and lost a match and the title to Anton Olson. The rematch Nyholm vs. Olson in 1921 was won by the first one. Actually, Nyholm was the champion from 1917 to 1921, Olson in 1921, and Nyholm again from 1921 to 1924. So, all is OK. Mibelz 15:40, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Actually it is strange that a country has two different champions for the same year but so be it. --Yoavd (talk) 17:33, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I have just added the information on his participation in 1st unofficial Chess Olympiad at Paris 1924.--Mibelz, 21:31, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have improved the English article on Izak Aloni. Would you be so kind to start the Hebrew article? Shalom, Mibelz (talk) 13:03, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dear friend, I will certainly translate your article into Hebrew. By the way, his name in Hebrew is יצחק אלוני and not the spelling you used. Thank you for the great work you are doing! --Yoavd (talk) 10:32, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS. By the way, I have also started an article on Yoel Aloni (Hebrew: יואל אלוני‎; born 30 September 1937).

Yoel and Hillel Aloni are identical twins, both excellent problem creators and I met both a few times. --Yoavd (talk) 03:37, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! It is an interesting fact that you met Alonis. Lastly, I have written an information on chess event in the Second 1935 Maccabiah Games. Do you have any information on it in the First Maccabiada at Tel Aviv 1932? By the way, I have been in Tel Aviv in May 2007.--Mibelz (talk) 02:02, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I have just changed it. --Mibelz (talk) 11:06, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! It is much better now. --Yoavd (talk) 06:55, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vaclav Kautsky

[edit]

Hello! Václav Kautský (birthdate: 8-8-1880, deceased:28-8-1924) was a Czech chess player. The 1st Kautsky Memorial at Prague 1924 was won by Jan Schulz, (...) the 5th K-Mem. in 1928 and 6th K-Mem. in 1929 were won by Salo Flohr, etc.

I have changed an incorrect name Duras Memorial (see, Alexander Khalifman Alexander Alekhine. Games 1935 – 1946 Vol.3 http://www.schachversand.de/e/detail/buecher/6637.html or http://www.bgchess.com/books1.htm). Actually, it was the Duras Jubileé (60-jährigen Jubiläum, 60-year Jubileé), like the Maróczy Jubileé at Budapest 1934. --Mibelz (talk) 12:00, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! So you see - most of my remarks are not meaningful, but if one remark corrects an entry - it is certainly worth it! --Yoavd (talk) 14:20, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! I have written that Rosenkrantz played in the Moscow City Championship in 1921, but not in the MCC 1924 and the MCC 1928. His results at Moscow 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1928 you can find at http://www.anders.thulin.name/SUBJECTS/CHESS/CTCIndex.pdf (Name Index to Jeremy Gaige's Chess Tournament Crosstables, An Electronic Edition, Anders Thulin, Malmö, 2004-09-01). You are talking about two different tournaments (MCC 1924 - Rosenkrantz did not play, MCC 1928 - he withdrew). He tied for 6-7th in 1928 in the 3rd Trade Unions Championship, see http://www.geocities.com/al2055km/nat_tour/1928/ch_tra28.html --Mibelz (talk) 12:40, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yoav D, I just wanted to remind you that just voting (keep or delete) is not helpful at Articles for Discussion because it is, well, a discussion. I also hope you are considering whether to keep or delete the articles you comment on based on Wikipedia policy and not because you like the topic. Thanks--TM 15:32, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It is not because I like or dislike the subject - I simply think it is important. --Yoavd (talk) 07:21, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed

Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.

It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. chess puzzles

[edit]

I found a wonderful site that contains tactical positions by great chess players. I will add links to this site to articles. I have not any part with this site nor any financial gain, so please do not delete the links. --Yoavd (talk) 13:19, 14 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping with the articles by adding the chess puzzle links but it looks like spam, which isn't allowed on Wikipedia. We have started a discussion on the Chess WikiProject Talk page. If you would like to contribute your view, please do. I would be grateful if you would pause the additions until we have a considered view though, in case we settle on removing the links, which is likely.
