[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Page title don't use the / in them unless that is the actual name of the organisation. - @CambridgeBayWeather
- The "slash /" character is not banned or ever mentioned as a character that should be avoided... besides the fact that my title correctly presents both organizations mentioned in the article instead of just one.
- please be so kind and revert it back to title I composed. Zevkay (talk) 23:27, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
- No, because you have not provided any evidence, and I can't find anything, that the organisation is called "Shmira / Shomrim". If the article is actually about two organisations then there should be two separate articles. While the / can be used (Aklavik/Freddie Carmichael Airport for example) it's not commonly used in article titles where it may be known under a second name (Montréal–Trudeau International Airport Montréal–Dorval International Airport is an example of this) and redirects are used. If the alternate, Shmira, is already linking to something else then a [hat note] is used.
- You should read Wikipedia:Article titles and if you still think it needs moving then you need to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Controversial and get input from other editors. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 00:08, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- @CambridgeBayWeather the article is about 2 different organizations, and it was always about those 2 organizations, and never about just Shomrim. that's why I changed it to reflect both organizations, because they serve the same exact purpose and neighborhoods. I don't think another article is necessary, and I didn't add Shmira to the article, it was always there, so I just added more info about it.
- if you'd like to help me out creating another article, please let me know and I'll be happy to work with you. Zevkay (talk) 00:24, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
Please stop. If you continue to move pages to bad titles contrary to naming conventions or consensus, you may be blocked from editing. CambridgeBayWeather (solidly non-human), Uqaqtuq (talk), Huliva 19:58, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
