Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. email password recovery requests

[edit]

I saw you were asking on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help about why you did not receive a response to your password recovery requests. That facility needs to find a match between the username and the email address on file for that account. One possibility is that the address you gave did not match the one on file. I'd expect a decent site to perhaps provide some feedback about why it cannot send email, but there may be security reasons for it not to do that.

Another, remote, possibility is that the email address on file has a different capitalization than the one you provided. Most of the time, most of us think emails are case-insensitive, but not every piece of software that deals with email addresses agrees with that assumption.

In the end, if you cannot recover the old password or get the password reset facility to work, you can create a new account. You can edit the user page of both the old and new accounts to indicate that they are both you and that you've had to abandon the old account. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 00:34, 8 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Thanks very much for your response!
I managed to find the password, in the end.
Never got the Reset Password mails, though so this means that's due to - sorry to say - limited means of being unable to recover your account, you really need to keep the password at hand!
Thanks once again! Zyggybaker(1984) (talk) 00:55, 9 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
