Utacon is an weekly music show produced by NHK, airing on tuesdays at 19:30 JST from April 12, 2016. The show replaces Kayou Concert and Music Japan.

About the Show

Utacon bring the various artists from Enka and J-Pop at NHK Hall every week, to carries on the spirit of Kayou Concert (which was ended on March 15) as well of Music Japan (ended April 4 at 01:30 JST). It also airs worldwide, by NHK World Premium at 10:30 UTC (in same time with NHK-G).

To targets all audiences, including traditional 60's-70's (viewing target of "Kayou Concert") NHK aims to so-called "rejuvenation" of the performers singers and music and added to the "Enka popular song" to this , "J-POP" is also incorporated, aim the program, such as can become the "center of Japanese music scene. Moreover, incorporates a relay from Japan Islands around, making the music show a live unique. As of "NHK Kayou Concert", this program usually performs in front of a live audience from NHK Hall, but every last week is performed live fromo NHK Osaka Hall.

The premiere episode will be 73 minutes longer, and features Ikimonogakari, Tatsuya Ishii, Sayuri Ishikawa, Yukino Ichikawa, Midori Oka, AKB48, Chris Hart, Saburo Kitajima, Ayaka Hirakawa, Fuyumi Sakamoto, Akira Fuse, Keisuke Yamauchi, Il Divo and Sumire.
