Vinkovački Banovci (Serbian Cyrillic: Винковачки Бановци)[3] is a village in Croatia in the region of Syrmia. It is inhabited mostly members of the Serbian minority. The first word of its name is an adjective for Vinkovci that distinguishes it from the adjacent village of Banovci.

Education

The village hosts a part of the Elementary School Ilača-Banovci (Croatian: Osnovna škola Ilača-Banovci),[4] and the school in Vinkovački Banovci is the smallest of the three campuses. In a family setting students finish the first four years of their education. After that go to school in Banovci or Ilača.

Languages

Due to the local minority population, the Nijemci municipality allows the use of not only Croatian as the official language, but the Serbian language and Serbian Cyrillic alphabet as well in Vikovački Banovci.[5][6]
