WKNK (103.5 FM) was a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Callaway, Florida, United States, the station serves the Panama City area. The station is currently licensed to Powell Broadcasting Company, L.L.C. and features "The Gulf Coast Morning Show with Flip & Streeter". Current on-air personalities include Melissa Miller, Brad McKay and Jay Arthur.[1][2][3] Programming from Premiere Radio Networks and Westwood One.[4]
In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, Powell Broadcasting announced that it would cease operation of its Panama City stations, leaving the future of its licenses in the market in limbo.
History
The station has undergone several name and format changes since its incarnation.[citation needed]
- It was assigned the call letters WXDZ on October 12, 1989.
- On December 5, 1989, the station changed its call sign to WBKL, becoming Cool 103.5, an oldies station.
- On December 6, 1991, Cool 103.5 changed formats. It became Rock 103 with the call sign WDRK.
- On November 21, 1997, Rock 103 became Mix 103 with the call sign WMXP.
- In 2001, the station became Max Country 103.
- On March 10, 2004, Max Country 103 became Kat Country and changed the call sign to WAKT.
- On October 9, 2012, the station changed its name to Kickin' 103.5 with the call sign WKNK.
