Description

This isn't a big issue, but an edit filter claimed that I was trying to cite a blog for in-article information. However, all I did was link to the WordPress.com article in Special:Diff/1247478550; I cited TechCrunch.

Note: What happened was the filter detected "wordpress" in the ref URL (https://techcrunch.com/2024/09/22/matt-mullenweg-calls-wp-engine-a-cancer-to-wordpress-and-urges-community-to-switch-providers/). I suppose it could check for "wordpress.com" instead but this doesn't seem like a very likely false positive. C F A 💬 13:35, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aaron Liu: CFA's guess is incorrect, it only detects "wordpress" and others if they are followed by a dot and the dot is followed by 2 or 3 word characters.

Yeah, you're right. I should really actually check the filter because claiming things. We could instead check if the addition is wrapped in <ref> tags, although, again, this a "warn"-only filter with limited false positives so I'm not sure if it's worth it.
