I want to nominate it as I see it match now with other featured portals. Informed to the relevant WikiProject, see here. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 04:48, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment Er... why is this called "Archive1" ? The last FPC is located at "archive1" Wikipedia:Featured portal candidates/Portal:Star/archive1 ... seems like conflicting names with just a capital separating the two, and not a number. 76.66.193.119 (talk) 05:05, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment this has been resolved. 76.66.193.119 (talk) 05:14, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
What about notifying projects like Physics, Science, etc? -- Cirt (talk) 15:03, 31 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- No need really, just inform its parent project, that's enough. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 05:58, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Request that you please do so. Thanks! Cheers, -- Cirt (talk) 16:42, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Ok, see here, here and here. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 16:54, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comments in the reviews on Portal: U.S. Roads here at FPOC, I was asked to make sure that all images have "hover text", aka captions. If the image formatted is not as a thumbnail, the caption is only displayed as a "tool tip" when the cursor is over the image. None of this portal's images have captions, which is part of criterion 3 of the FPOC criteria. Can you please add them? Imzadi 1979 → 02:38, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Looks good, but what are all the little graphics in the corner of the biographies? They don't have captions, nor do they seem to have a purpose except decoration. Honestly, I'd just remove them, but that is only my opinion and others may disagree. If they stay, they should have captions added. Otherwise, assuming in good faith that this is fixed, I believe this portal meets the criteria so I'm ready to conditionally support its promotion, with that reservation. - No it's not done, is it? Those unnecessary graphics (which have no obvious purpose) are still there, which is why I also mentioned them. Please take more care before marking things as "done". BencherliteTalk 20:05, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- They have, it displays the importance and tools of that astronomer as well as for decoration. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Comments from Bencherlite
Ok, now that this is the only FPoC left, let's give it some attention!
- Could you set out how many FAs / GAs / FLs etc the portal's using, please?
- 10F, 4G. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- I don't get the same figures as you - are you using FAs or GAs outside the selected star/article/biography sections? If so, don't! BencherliteTalk 12:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- The intro box has a lot of white space in it; you've not got much text, and you've got two images squashing it. I suggest you change this to one image, but you can use a random code to change the intro image as in (for example) Portal:Iceland/Intro. A caption for the photo would be good as well, to give readers a clue which stars they're seeing.
- I will see. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- And the answer is? BencherliteTalk 12:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- It isn't working. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:01, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- That's surprising. What doesn't work? BencherliteTalk 17:36, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- For information, I followed the Iceland example at Portal:ENGLAW and it's worked just fine, so I suspect any difficulties are at your end not with the model to follow. BencherliteTalk 21:28, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Still not working. Can you do it yourself please? --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 11:07, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- And the answer is? BencherliteTalk 12:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Portal:Star/Selected stars/1 has an odd (1) in it - a left-over reference, I think.
- Fixed. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 11:34, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Are there only 4 DYKs? Surely you must be able to find some more from articles that have been on the main page? I can give you a suggestion if you like... set up User:JL-Bot/Project content somewhere to give you lists of DYKs (and also GAs / FAs if you want) from the relevant projects (Astronomy and Space in particular, I would have thought) then use that as a checklist for finding DYKs.
- Added one more. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- On a related point, I'm not quite sure what Portal:Star/Did you know/archive is for. I would have expected to be a selection of more DYKs.
- I had not created this, and it can used for finding DYK lines such as the new one I have added. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:48, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Not a good answer. BencherliteTalk 12:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Personally, I think that the selected picture could do with being bigger and having less distracting text around it.
- Correct. But this portal has a very tough work to do as it is like a selected article of Portal:Astronomy. Aurora cause is related to star, somehow. I will see for this also.
- The images in the corners of the selected biographies are too small to be visible, and I'm not sure you need a second image (particularly in that position) anyway.
- They have, it displays the importance and tools of that astronomer as well as for decoration. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- See, all these things that Bencherlite has commented - i am not saying it's wrong - but I had same questions before too and I had replied there. --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 01:17, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

- Oppose for (1) not enough DYKs (2) DYK "archive" that is pointless (3) irrelevant small decorative images in the biographies (4) over-lengthy text for the "selected picture" section: it would be much better to use the text for the selected article or star sections, with just a couple of sentences to explain the picture. While we're at it, I think that this portal would benefit from (a) adding a "selected quotation" section, and (b) fixing the Wikimedia links so that they point to decent targets e.g. commons:Category:Stars, q:Stars and wikt:star. BencherliteTalk 12:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Those small decorative images in the biographies are not irrelevant, how many times I will explain you? --Extra 999 (Contact me + contribs) 16:17, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- They are too small to be visible in detail; they cannot be made larger without distorting the layout; the images are not referred to in the "blurb" and so readers have no idea what they are. I am unaware of any portal promoted to Featured status that uses such additional trinkets. I am not the first person in this review to suggest removing them. Please remove them. BencherliteTalk 17:36, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Extra: it was in a similar state back when I started work on Volcanoes. The only way to fix it is to go through every archive right up to the present. It'll take a few hours, but you'll get something accomplished. I did Shift+F "Find" Volc; you should try Shift+F "Find" Star. ResMar 01:02, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
- Closing, unfortunately does not exist support consensus for promotion, at this point in time. -- Cirt (talk) 22:04, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
