Help:Cite errors/Cite error included ref

[edit]

Hello, two pages were written about Kyra Pahlen -

On the right one - there is:

"Submission declined on 20 December 2014 by APerson (talk).

This appears to be a duplicate of another submission, Kyra Pahlen, which is also waiting to be reviewed. To save time we will consider the other submission and not this one."

How does one get the right one to be submitted? Thank you. MM — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zina2911 (talkcontribs) 20:38, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just because there are two doesn't mean to say one is going to be right. There appears to be some one user accounts on both. Ah, my dinner must be ready as I can smell fish. COI anyone?--Aspro (talk) 21:18, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Zina2911 Maybe you would like to read Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_soapbox_or_means_of_promotion & COI and then consider making a few necessary alterations to make proposed article suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia.--Aspro (talk) 21:28, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've fixed the 'Cite error'. Just needed a '/' in front of the ref>. The image on Draft:Kyra Pahlen look very much like the one on IMDb [1] It looks a bit amateurish though and not like bit an official PR photo. Do you know who took it? Can you obtain a better one? As the one on the other draft looks horrible. --Aspro (talk) 22:33, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Help with collapsible table

[edit]

Can somebody look at the tables on my sandbox: User:Gaff/sandbox. The first has two cells in the first row and the row revealed when the table is opened up. (this is how I want it). In the second box, when it is expanded, there are three boxes from the second row on down. Please fix in the sandbox or post here to tell me what is wrong. Thank you! Gaff (talk) 05:10, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

*  Done I found the problem. Gaff (talk) 05:11, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on Raju peddada

[edit]

Reference help requested. Please help with the submission of this article. Can you please tell us why all the references has been removed and the changes are reverted. Thanks, Aparna Penmethsa (talk) 10:09, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aparna Penmethsa. I can't tell you why Bgwhite undid your edits: you'll need to ask them. My guess is that they thought that the meterial you added was too promotional, but they didn't give a reason in their edit summary, or post a message on the talk page. It may be that they thought you were wrong to remove the cleanup tags, and did not realise that they were undoing other changes as well. I suggest you ask them on the article's talk page. (I've linked them in this answer, so they may reply anyway). --ColinFine (talk) 10:44, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

WP email

[edit]

Stupid question: How do I access my Wikipedia email? Where is the inbox? Doh. Thanks. Sca (talk) 16:23, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't have an email service. If you have enabled email in your user preferences then you may receive it, either from Wikipedia itself or from other editors; but in either case it will go to whatever email address you provided. --ColinFine (talk) 18:11, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
- and it would appear that you did set an address, since Wikipedia will let me email you on it (I have not done so: I just went to the page to see). --ColinFine (talk) 18:12, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If you suspect you are not receiving emails then you can send a test mail to yourself at Special:EmailUser/Sca, or try setting another email address at Special:Preferences. See more at Wikipedia:Emailing users. Some users incorrectly say "email" about talk page messages. That doesn't appear to be your problem but you can see your talk page by clicking "Talk" at top of any page when you are logged in. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:55, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

reaction to bonadea

[edit]

Good evening Bonadea,

thank you so much for warning me by removing some of my added videos from the encyclopedia page. As you can probably see, I have always been very interested in reproduction, pregnancy and birth. It wasn't my goal to do inappropriate things, but he only thing I wanted to achieve by posting my YouTube natural vaginal birth videos, was to show people who want to get to know more about pregnancy and birth in special, that the birthing process can also be accomplished at home or even in a natural environment, not only in a hospital. I admire those births and hopefully you do as well.

I would like to ask your permission for posting this births videos on the English Wikipedia Page Childbirth or Men's Role in Childbirth. I have already posted them on the Wikipedia page about pregnancy in my own language (Dutch, because I am from Holland: zwangerschap). I would be so happy if the whole world could see them, since the English page gets more visitors than the Dutch one.

Would you think about this please?

I'm waiting for your response,

ps. I really appreciate the improvals you make on my contributions, as I am a new poster on Wikipedia that yet has to learn a lot...:) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Abrahamvermeulen26 (talkcontribs)

Assuming you are referring to User:Bonadea, @Bonadea:, such a question would be better posted directly on the user's talk page, in this case User talk:Bonadea. But i have notified the user with a "ping" about your question on this help desk. GermanJoe (talk) 16:40, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please remove the following . . .

Can I please have that removed right away. It's been on here for years and I wish for it to be gone. Thanks heaps. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 139.216.249.181 (talk) 16:28, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

translating a wikipedia entry

[edit]

Hi,

I would like to know how to translate a wikipedia entry. I want to translate Santa Susana High School into Spanish and Italian.

Thanks,

JOsé — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.172.108.14 (talk) 20:59, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know the languages and Wikipedia languages can have different policies but see Wikipedia:Translation, es:Wikipedia:Traducciones, it:Wikipedia:Traduzioni. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:43, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sharing articles

[edit]

ls,

nowadays i mostly use Wikipedia on my Android-tablet. one of the problems i encounter in using Wikipedia hereon is my inability in sharing articles on Twitter. this may be due to a lack of android-knowledge on my side, but i rather would like to see a function, like in the upper right corner of Youtube, where i'm given the opportunity to share the link on different platforms.

my questions:

  • is this question here in the right place?
    • if so, am i doing something wrong on Android?
      • if so, where can i find a how-to?
    • would it be technically be possible to build such a fuction into the wiki-software?
      • if so, where should i ask?

regards, Michiel043 (talk) 21:40, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This question comes up often, and the answer is that there are no plans to offer anything like this. See Wikipedia:Perennial_proposals#Share_pages_on_Facebook.2C_Twitter_etc.. You can just copy the URL in your browser and e-mail or tweet that. RudolfRed (talk) 22:21, 23 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
tnx for your text, but you don't answer my questions. i dunno the meaning of 'perennial proposals' i'm simply a dumb foreigner. should i rather use Wikimedia? or lobby somewhere else? Michiel043 (talk) 03:32, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
btw, Wikipedia:Perennial proposals is just an information page, and has nothing to do with policies or guidelines. If i want to discuss this where is the place to do this? Michiel043 (talk) 09:00, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Michiel043. The place to make suggestions like this is at the WP:Village pump. But it is always worth checking the Perennial proposals page first, and if the suggestion is listed there you will see a summary of the arguments which have been raised about the suggestion. Unless you have a new argument, you are very unlikely to persuade the implementors to change their position, and are probably wasting your time. --ColinFine (talk) 11:38, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Michiel043: are you using the Wikipedia app or just using Wikipedia in your browser? In both cases, you can easily use Android's share menu to share any Wikipedia article. In the app, simply tap the overflow menu (three vertical dots), then choose "Share" and select the app to share with, in your case Twitter. If you're using a recent version of Android, you're probably using Chrome as a browser. The process there is essentially the same. There's no need for changes to Wikipedia; the functionality is already built into the OS. —Al E.(talk) 18:02, 24 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
