French[edit]

Elly Jackson of La Roux knows french, but her biography does not explain why. Why?Curb Chain (talk) 05:25, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Clarification: How did she learn french?)Curb Chain (talk) 05:25, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Um, she studied it? (If I should ever earn a place in an encyclopedia, it probably won't explain why I know French, among other things.) —Tamfang (talk) 07:27, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Although I can't find what subjects she studied, French is the most commonly studied language in England[1], and she attended a prestigious private school (Royal Russell School) and sixth form college[2] so she may well have learned there (also, she's not stupid). --Colapeninsula (talk) 08:55, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New article - Huw and Tony Williams[edit]

I have been pointed at the reference desk by A412, who has reviewed a new article that I have submitted. It is biographical and based on living persons - two UK-based musicians. I am looking for advice on how to verify some simple facts about their careers to date.N1geD (talk) 08:58, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For information: The previous discussion is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk#Review of Wikipedia:Tutorial/Editing/sandbox. @N1geD: I can't find the text you have written. You should prepare draft articles in your sandbox here. In writing any article about living people you should take account of this policy - WP:BLP. Any article should be based on independent reliable sources, rather than on information that you "know" or have obtained from the musicians' own site. You may need to go through some of the articles linked in the welcome message on your talk page. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:30, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need help finding an old commercial[edit]

With the news of Dick Clarks passing I have been thinking of a commercial where he greets a doorman named tommy. This keeps happening several times in Tommy's life until he is an old man and Dick is the same as well as his car. As he drives off Tommy goes that car never ages. I tried but can't remember what the ad was for or a possible place where it might be. Can anyone help me152.27.56.87 (talk) 20:18, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like it would be for the car. StuRat (talk) 21:02, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This commercial came to my mind too. It's an ad for Texaco/Havoline motor oil from about 10-15 years ago I think. The car "never ages" because it uses their oil. I searched YouTube but didn't find it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.94.185.122 (talk) 00:12, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Here's an article backing up 209. "Amazing. That car never ages." Clarityfiend (talk) 02:55, 19 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
