December 28[edit]

02:01:35, 28 December 2015 review of draft by Fgurnee[edit]

I am creating my first page. The article is about Frank Byrne, an Irish Nationalist, member of the Invincibles, and responsible for the Phoenix Park Murders. He is mentioned in some existing articles on these subjects. My problem is that there is an article on Frank M. Byrne, a completely unrelated person. Do I leave my title as Frank Byrne and worry about disambiguation, etc., later or change my title to Frank Byrne, Irish Nationalist? (I actually did this change, but would like to go back to just plain Frank Byrne. Thanks for your direction. f. gurnee

Fgurnee (talk) 02:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fgurnee - don't worry about it, the reviewer who accepts the draft will see to it that the title complies with WP:Article titles. You don't need to do anything about it. Disambiguation of similar subject names can sometimes be complicated so leave it someone who is familiar with the conventions. If you stay with us and work on many more articles (I hope you will) you will eventually see the logic. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:55, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

02:01:43, 28 December 2015 review of submission by Kanmp[edit]

Kanmp (talk) 02:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC) Kanmp (talk) 02:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)Regarding the article "Lakeside International Raceway, Australia 1st 100 mph lap. I was asked about this question as the official records of the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) were lost in the great floods in Brisbane in 1974 and details of lap records up to this time were no longer available. I then began on research to find exactly when this very significant event took place. The racing circuit opened in 1961 and during the 1960's the Tasman Series of races were held over 8 weeks in New Zealand (4 circuits) and 4 in Australia. Warwick Farm in Sydney, Lakeside in Queensland, Sandown in Melbourne and Longford in Tasmania. At Lakeside many Formula 1 drivers were part of the series such as (Sir) Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill, John Surtees and Bruce McLAren among star competitors from NZ and Australia. The series was well documented in the press and can easily be found on the Internet. At Lakeside 1000 pounds was offered fro the first driver to break the (then) lap time of 60 seconds for the 1.5 mile circuit. The time was not beaten. The concept of a 100 mph lap was considered to be impossible. However time and improvements in technology meant that a time of 54seconds for the 1.5 mile lap became possible. That in fact was 8 years later. My research included obtaining details of races held during the 1960's form the archivist of the (now discontinued) Racing Car News (RCN) considered to the authority for reporting all details including lap times and records at race tracks around Australia. I also got records held by the MG Car Club of Queensland and from the official chief timekeeper. The timekeeper in the 1960 era had passed away but his records were still available from the current holder of that position. I was the President of the Queensland Motor Sporting Club who organised and conducted race meetings at Lakeside during the period and indeed for many years later. I was considered to be the best person to obtain correct information, although the passing of time and events such as the 1974 floods and the discontinuation of the publication of RCN made the task somewhat difficult. However I feel that the information obtained was very accurate and of significant authority as to make the information available to persons interested in the future, even with the passing of time and certainly before any chance of recovering the information is totally lost. I therefore submit that the information provided is as accurate as is humanly possible and cannot be challenged.[reply]

Hi Kanmp There is a message on your talk page that explains how you can request undeletion of your draft - which was deleted simply because you had abandoned it for more than 6 months - no judgement has been expressed about its content, so you really do not need to go into such extensive detail(TL;DR)  about it. 08:32:18, 28 December 2015 review of submission by Karin1964[edit]

Karin1964 (talk) 08:32, 28 December 2015 (UTC) My research was accepted as fact from various sources. I want to share the knowledge even though I own the copyright.[reply]

@Karin1964: Hello, and welcome to the Help Desk. As mentioned, if your question involves the Voynich manuscript, the best place to inquire about that is at the article's talk page. However, if you are doing your own research on the manuscript, that constitutes original research and is unsuitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Thanks, /wia🎄/tlk 16:25, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 15:59:48, 28 December 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by 41.66.200.87[edit]

I created a page for review but it was deleted, and I don't really understand why? and more as you guys are the professional who have been doing this ages I thought it will be a good idea for your team to lend me a hand to create my wiki page without any deleting it.

Thank you

Hello, and welcome to the Help Desk. There are a few issues with the draft in its current form:
  1. There are only two references, one of which is from the club's own website and thus doesn't offer an independent look at the organization. The organizational notability requirements generally require substantive, in-depth coverage, which is currently lacking. Please find and add a variety of reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail.
  2. Some of the tone is very informal and does not yet comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Please remove any instance of "us", "we" or "our". Further, content like "we are focused on EVERY child achieving success and reaching their true potential" reads like an advertisement you might find on the organization's website, but it does not belong in Wikipedia. Please rephrase content like this as neutrally as possible, sticking only to the facts and avoiding anything that could be construed as an advertisement for the organization.
  3. It looks also like some of the content was copied from another website. In the future, please avoid copying content directly or closely paraphrasing content from copyrighted sources. Always write content in your own words.
  4. If you are connected to the organization in question, then you have a conflict of interest. Please read the linked page, as conflict-of-interest editing is discouraged on Wikipedia, and it is important to know the policies if they apply to you. 20:01:31, 28 December 2015 review of submission by JTW53[edit]

I wish to know more fully the reasons why it was deleted. It appears attributable to CSD G13. If my request to undelete succeeds, what are my next steps in getting the article properly submitted? Danan (talk) 20:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Danan (talk) 20:01, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@JTW53: Hello, and welcome to the Help Desk. Your draft Draft:F. Scott Yeager was deleted under the G13 criterion of the CSD policy. If you would like to work on the draft further, you can request that the draft be refunded by following the procedure at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion/G13. Thanks! /wia🎄/tlk 20:12, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
