Notability criteria for actor/actress porn

[edit]

[1][2][3] Appealing to WP:NOTABILITY, these three biographies taken as an example which are in all the major encyclopedias Wiki linguistically edition except here, give me food for thought on the fact that biographies relating to porn have too severe cancellation problems. These three biography are widely relevant and important and notable. This makes me understand that a discussion is needed to unequivocally define whoever has been nominated for AVN Awards (who was universally definitely the "Oscar of Porn"), XBIZ (like as "Golden Globe of Porn") or XRCO, as notable and relevant and can have a page on this wiki. They have reached the highest level of notability in their reference sector. Therefore it must be written clearly that whoever is a candidate for these events is unequivocally notable for a pagine in Wikipedia. 5.91.118.61 (talk) 11:34, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • The different language Wikipedia projects each have their own notability guidelines for inclusion. English Wikipedia generally requires non-trivial coverage by independent WP:RELIABLE sources. None of the three performers cited above appear to have such coverage to establish notability, and two of them have been deleted from English Wikipedia. Looking at the es.Wikipedia entries, the references are the typical porn interviews and film database citations, nothing reliable. "The Oscars of Porn" is a promotional tag line with little value in English Wikipedia without support from independent reliable media. Editors found by consensus in 2019, that winning a porn award is not a reliable indicator of notability, absent reliable sources. In particular, AVN nominations, with 15 nominees per category, are a joke even within the industry. Something for everyone, or at least a nomination for every studio. Porn award nominations were deprecated from notability guidelines ten years ago. • Gene93k (talk) 16:37, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Where is this discussion who changed the criteria? See this link [4][5] who paragons at the "Oscar". Those who know the sector know that it's not as you say; AVN, XBIZ and XRCO are the top industry awards, a careful and independent selection is made among thousands and thousands of candidates. Put a link who say that this awards nominations and victory are a "joke" and don't increase "notability".109.114.8.132 (talk) 15:25, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Phoenix Marie

[edit]

Is Phoenix Marie now worthy of a Wikipedia article? Here are some sources Phoenix Marie Reflects on Career Milestones, Staying Power - XBIZ.com , Twenty Questions with Porn Superstar Phoenix Marie - Fleshbot , 2015 Adult Expo Interview: Phoenix Marie - Pornstar Interviews (adultdvdtalk.com) , Coolio Told Us About the Racists Who Tried to Stop His Pornhub Music Video Shoot (vice.com) , 10 Porn Stars Tell The Story Of How They Lost Their Virginity | HuffPost UK Weird News (huffingtonpost.co.uk) and is also AVN Awards , NightMoves Award, XBIZ Awards, Urban X Awards , XRCO Award, are awards Phoenix Marie has won. Dwanyewest (talk) 00:24, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I think this would be the most significant item in support of notability: "Porn Star Takes Castmate to Court Over Shoot Gone Horribly Wrong", The Daily Beast (April 16, 2024). BD2412 T 01:44, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
BD2412 T I am not sure if it is worth the time or effort to make a new Phoenix Marie article? Dwanyewest (talk) 21:45, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If you're asking whether such an article would survive a deletion effort, I think it is borderline based on the available sources. BD2412 T 22:34, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Morbidthoughts: I am aware of the yellow-light status of the source. It is not, however, a prohibited source, and the events reported lend more to notability than the fluff from green-light sources. BD2412 T 01:23, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What you say is false and the result of your personal mystification POV of convention of wiki. First, that discussion of 2019 simply removed the specific criteria for automatic relevance and did not establish that the awards are worth zero or that they should not be counted towards notability; secondly, here we are also talking about two notable hall of fame, which are not a "prize" in the strict sense, and here the fallacy of your reasoning is exposed. Some many link [6][7][8][9] indipendent sources who talk about her. 5.90.168.59 (talk) 19:34, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Kindly listen to @Gene93k. He is right. I will also look into this to see if it's worth recreating but what @Gene93k said was right. Gabriel (talk to me ) 19:40, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No because first of all, hall of fame is not a "real award" but a career recognition for having contributed significantly in a given area (don't enter the hall of fame the first one you meet); secondly, the discussion of 2019 don't say "win a award=zero for zero notability". It is a paradox to say that if an actor wins or is nominated for an award, this constitutes a sort of pseudo-aggravating negative to notability. Those awards are the most important in the industry and I cannot be ignorant of an overall assessment of the subject's notability. PS: AVN (magazine) is the one most magazines of this sector, why isn't it at acceptable? It would be like blacklisting Billboard on articles relating music or the New York Times on articles relating to New York City. It is a another paradox. It seems to me, without presuming anyone's bad faith, little knowledge of this sector and that there is a sort of "puritan crusade", without making an objective and detached evaluation of the topic and the sector being discussed. 5.90.168.59 (talk) 19:50, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Trade press tends to be promotional of its industry. That is especially true with porn trade press outlets, including Adult Video News. With AVN and XBIZ it is important to distinguish hard news reporting in the voice of the newsroom from republished press releases (see churnalism). Wikipedia insists that sources be intellectually independent of the subject (performer or studio). As reputable mainstream media tends to shun pornography, we the editors are often left with only promotional sources. Unless reliable media, independent of the porn industry, acknowledges the significance of the awards, such awards are promotional fluff. That has been the consensus since 2019. Porn nominations were deprecated ten years ago, as AVN grants 15 nominees per category (something for every studio). It's not about a puritan crusade, it's about keeping Wikipedia's content verifiable. balanced and promotion-free. If better mainstream coverage like NYT existed, we wouldn't have this problem. • Gene93k (talk) 21:10, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Does anyone have access to sources about Gerard Damiano's This film is all about... (This film is all about '...') (1970), including the cast?
