Category:Behavioral and social facets of systemic risk

was Category:Systemic Risk - Behavioral & Social Facets

  • I'm the original author of two category pages
    • Category:Systemic risk This has a related article page Systemic risk that I did not author but could use updating. There may also be key Wikipedia pages that could be tagged with this category. Help from ASIA would be really nice!!!
    • Category:Behavioral and social facets of systemic risk I did not write an article page on this but would participate in a group to write one. See the talk page for more. This is bleeding edge research - 10 toes over the front of the surfboard type stuff. However its very real and have found at least one initial survey article (top quality in a heavily refereed journal) so its undeniably legitimate. Would love help here!!!

Project merger

I have become aware, as a member, that this project is becoming increasingly more inactive. I recently revived the WikiProject Investment and it has been growing.

So I would like to propose a merger of these two projects. It would benefit the general coverage of finance and investment on Wikipeda ´, as both of these topics have much in common.

Please let me know of what your opinion on this is.

Thanks! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 10:24, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

I don't really see the need, as finance and investment are and can be separate. But I won't oppose if others favor. Figureofnine (talkcontribs) 12:01, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
@Figureofnine: The two topics have a lot in common.Merging the project can definietly make "attracting" new members easier as more interests and a larger scope are/is represented.Currently the projects are neglected from a lack of active members and as one combined project it could have a bigger opportunity in becoming successful in improving Wikipedia.
Cheers. WikiEditCrunch (talk) 15:16, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
I guess it's harmless enough. Inactive projects usually just stay inactive. This one is not totally dead. Figureofnine (talkcontribs) 15:22, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
@Figureofnine: The project is heading towards becoming inactive for sure.Id say this could be a great solution. Cheers. WikiEditCrunch (talk) 15:33, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Go for it. By the way you don't have to ping me with each response. I've this page watchlisted. Figureofnine (talkcontribs) 16:55, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
I support a merger. Investments is arguably a subset of Finance anyway, and in any case, there is clearly substantial overlap in subject matter. We also have a limited number of interested editors, and editors on the two projects also tend to overlap. John M Baker (talk) 15:10, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
I am not sure how many users are needed to comment or approve this so to speak, but I guess it is reasonable to wait until more members of the Finance Project give their input. If this doesnt happen then can we just merge the projects? Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 19:07, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
This is enough support if opposition does not emerge, but I would give it three or four more days to make sure that everyone has a chance to comment. If opposition emerges, you might want to give it the full 30 days, see WP:Merge. John M Baker (talk) 16:08, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Good idea. Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 16:40, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Since no one has opposed this merger since more than 4 days Ill start to merge the two projects.
Just one more matter I would like to get an opinion on:Rename the Project (WikiProject Finance & Investment for example) or make a task force?
Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 17:36, 8 September 2017 (UTC)
That name makes sense. I see no harm with a merger. I've been watchlisting this page for seven years and I can't recall the last time anything of interest surfaced. Merger seems to be a good remedy for the blahs. Figureofnine (talkcontribs) 16:21, 17 September 2017 (UTC)
As the merger is pretty much finished, I would like to propose a name change for the project to WikiProject Finance & Investment.
I suppose Figureofnine somewhat agrees but getting some more opinions would probably be right.
Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 17:08, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
I support the name change. While it is not, strictly speaking, necessary, it is desirable for clarity. John M Baker (talk) 19:07, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
Alright then. Cheers! WikiEditCrunch (talk) 10:06, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Help with Sageworks (financial tech company)

Hi! I'm wondering if WikiProject Finance editors might be interested in some proposed updates for the article on Sageworks, which makes financial data and analysis software, and collects financial data on the private sector. In full disclosure, I'm here on behalf of Sageworks as part of my work with Beutler Ink. To start with, I've suggested a proposal for the History section, to provide some background on how the firm got started and a few major milestones. I'm keen to get input from editors from this WikiProject since you may have some familiarity with this type of company and their offerings. At Talk:Sageworks I've provided some background on the history of the page and why I'm offering new drafts. Let me know if you have any feedback or questions. Thanks in advance! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 19:57, 11 October 2017 (UTC)

Following up to say this request has been reviewed. Of course if anyone has an interest in taking a look and has any questions, I'm more than happy to discuss. Cheers, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:08, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

Help with updates to New York Life

Hi, as well as my request for Sageworks (above), I'm working on proposing some article updates to New York Life Insurance Company. I'm wondering if editors from this WikiProject might be interested in giving this a review. To start, I've suggested a proposal to update the infobox. You'll see on the Talk page that I'm looking to correct the Net income to Operating income, add Products, Assets under management, and update the Number of employees. In full disclosure, I'm here on behalf of New York Life Insurance Company as part of my work with Beutler Ink. Thanks in advance! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 21:04, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Isle of Man as a tax haven

 – Pointer to relevant discussion elsewhere.

Please see Talk:Isle of Man#Tax haven – the gist is, this island nation (British protectorate) is legendary as as tax haven. The article is generally well-developed, except missing a section on this, which is a really big deal with regard to the economy of the place, and perhaps even important to an extent in the context of British and Commonwealth and maybe EU economic matters. Did some news, books, scholar searches, and there's oodles of source material. However, I'm skeptical someone should take this one who is not well-versed in the financial and regulatory lingo, since the material is very easy to misinterpret on the part of a novice, and sometimes news sources get legal and economics things wrong to begin with. This could probably be an entire article of its own, but we need at least a WP:SUMMARY-style section in the main country article.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  18:37, 8 November 2017 (UTC)
