Licensing[edit]

Wouldn't CC-BY instead of CC-BY-SA be preferable, or at least noted as an option for those posting their images to the Flickr pool?

Thanks

~Jordan

My knowledge of licenses isn't too detailed, so I've done a bit of research: Commons upload says "dual license CC-BY-SA 3 / GDFL" is recommended - so it can be used by most projects (?); however, I dont think Flickr can license under GDFL? Hence I thought CC-BY-SA was the best way. however, I've changed the text to say this is only recommended so that people coudl do others if they prefer. See [1] for the FLICKR options. Gordo (talk) 20:50, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
BY-SA is definitely the best way. Wikipedia is probably relicensing joint BY-SA/FDL with a view to moving entirely to BY-SA. So the photos should be BY-SA rather than FDL and BY. Saying BY-SA is just recommended might lead to people using NC, which would be really bad. ;-) --Rob Myers (talk) 22:58, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
this diff is troubling especially as it comes from an IP address at the V&A. Can someone whose in contact with the V&A check that this wasn't them officially pulling the plug? WereSpielChequers 16:34, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
NB the V&A has already published many of its own images on Commons via the in-house User:VAwebteam, so lets hope this wasn't meant. There is a V&A contact on Flickr. Johnbod (talk) 16:56, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion on IRC[edit]

Please come along to a discussion we're organising at irc://irc.freenode.net/wikimedia-uk next Tuesday, 6th January at 9:30pm UTC to discuss the practicalities of the V&A side of this project and how this can best link it with the main project. Cheers! AndrewRT(Talk) 22:45, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What time?[edit]

What time does it kick off, and where are we meeting? Ironholds (talk) 23:38, 22 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I need to come down from Peterborough so this would be good to know for planning. --Rob Myers (talk) 20:00, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Resources[edit]

Will there be PCs and/or net access available for uploading images during the day? (I don't have a very large camera memory ;-) ) --Rob Myers (talk) 20:00, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be bringing my netbook along, so if all else fails you can shove them on my PC when we sit down for a bit and I'll send em over once I get to somewhere connected to the internet. Ironholds (talk) 20:52, 25 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting[edit]

Hi Andrew - I made a lot of changes to the page just now for formatting and consistency, especially so that rules in all places are identical, that scoring is clearly defined and the same as others, etc. Shelleyb7 (talk) 21:29, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remaining pictures needed?[edit]

Unfortunately I missed this, or would have come along. Was just reading about it in the Signpost. I might be able to go along next weekend or even later in the month, but it would be good to have a "missing images" list to help fill the gaps in the collections, rather than duplicate efforts. Or even do "reshoots" if no-one got a great picture of a particular object. Will it be possible to get such a list? Don't do it on my account, as I might bail out, but is it being considered? Did it all go well, by the way? Carcharoth (talk) 15:13, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Found some info here. Carcharoth (talk) 15:19, 2 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
