In addition, the term could also be confused with the UN number from the ADR scope (transport of dangerous goods). The numbers mentioned in this article are absolutely specific to the 1958 agreement. They are not even "ECE member numbers" or anything. In documents of UNECE already cited in the article, we find that these numbers are often called "distinguishing number". Much better I think.
