Yankjah (Arabic: ينكجة, Turkish: Yenice) is a town in the Tooz District of Salah ad Din Governorate, near the border with Kirkuk Governorate, in northern Iraq, about 100 km (62 mi) from the Iranian border. It has a population of 25,000,[1] mainly from Iraq's Sunni Turkoman ethnic group.[2] Yankjah, along with Altun Kupri, Amerli, Bashir, Bustamli, Mahalabiyah, Qarah Tappah, Sulaiman Bek, Tal Afar, Taza Khurmatu, and Tuz Khormato, make up the largest Turkmen-majority cities in Iraq, while Mosul, Kirkuk, Kifri, Daquq, Muqdadiyah, Jalawla, and Al-Sadiyah have significant Turkmen minority populations.
