Happy editing! -- Chamal talk 11:14, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Gira2be! This edit you made to the article Sri Lanka Army Commando Regiment contains incorrect information. Please note that the page you have given as a reference, http://www.army.lk/regiments.php, simply provides some basic information about the regiments of the Sri Lanka army. It has nothing to do with the order of precedence of the regiments. If you look at it that way, the Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, Sri Lanka National Guard & Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (which are some of the oldest regiments of the army) come after the Commando regiment which was created only in the 80s. Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment preceded the Commando regiment, not the Mechanized Infantry Regiment. Chamal talk 16:32, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Damn, my mistake. I was under the wrong impression. Sorry.

warning[edit]

Whether or not you agree with the LTTE, as your edits seem to indicate you dont, all their leaders and military units are notable, and many of the pages you indiscriminately tagged were adequately (though not well) referenced.Pectoretalk 21:07, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, I'm going to remove the warning. I reacted too soon and harshly. Just realize that with a quick google search, their notability would have been easily proven, though you were right about references. I'll finish that job today. Sorry about any misunderstandings.Pectoretalk 00:44, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (File:SLAF F101.JPG)[edit]

You've uploaded File:SLAF F101.JPG, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:16, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't edit war on articles under edit restrictions[edit]

Please calm down before you engage in edits such as this one, especially when the page is subject to editing restrictions. While I don't quite understand why this is so contentious, it is obviously controversial and needs to be discussed. And it has been discused here, where no reasons have been given for inclusion of the name of the school. This consequently resulted in a consensus to remove it. If you disagree, please contribute your opinion there and wait till a consensus is reached. Since your version is also incorrect both grammatically and with regard to its layout (extraneous line feed), I will revert it now. You have, in the past, shown signs of good faith, so I will, as others did before me, assume good faith again. If you relax and calm down, you will be fine; please don't get sucked down by a spiral of edit warring. — Sebastian 01:39, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Type 89 AFV[edit]

I removed Sri Lanka from the Type 89's operators list. The SLAF use the similar export version Type 85 (alongside the older Type 63). Unless you can provide photographic proof that the PLAF also had the Type 89, please don't put them in the Type 89 article. Thanks. dendirrek (talk) 09:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

minor edits[edit]

you have marked |one of your recent edits as minor. at closer inspection, it appears that you deleted content with that edit. While is is generally not a problem to delete content, such edits should not be marked as minor. Please read WP:MINOR for more information.Jasy jatere (talk) 20:56, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How to deal with unclassified sources[edit]

Thank you for referring to WP:SLR#Classification of sources in your recent edits, such as this. I need to correct a misunderstanding, though: When a source is not classified as RS, it doesn't mean that it's unreliable. In particular, Asia Times has simply not been assessed yet. When you see a source like this, please proceed per WP:SLR#WP:SLR#How to avoid a revert war, and apply the template {{Verify credibility}}.

Allow me a more general remark: Please keep in mind that such major changes in SL conflict related articles are practically always controversial. Therefore, next time, please follow the instruction of the box on top of that page, which says: "Before changing anything that might be controversial, please report the issue at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Sri Lanka Reconciliation." I hope to see you there! — Sebastian 00:08, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:SLAC 0101.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SLAC 0101.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:12, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Hi Gira2be maybe this can help you in your edits. [1]

NowCommons: File:SLAF pic 2 Kafir.jpg[edit]

File:SLAF pic 2 Kafir.jpg is now available on Wikimedia Commons as Commons:File:Sri Lanka Air Force Kfir.jpg. This is a repository of free media that can be used on all Wikimedia wikis. The image will be deleted from Wikipedia, but this doesn't mean it can't be used anymore. You can embed an image uploaded to Commons like you would an image uploaded to Wikipedia, in this case: [[File:Sri Lanka Air Force Kfir.jpg]]. Note that this is an automated message to inform you about the move. This bot did not copy the image itself. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 03:59, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I notice that you created a redirect at this article title - but the redirect goes to the same article title. The result is a broken redirect, or a redirect that redirects to itself. I've deleted the redirect as a housekeeping measure; please feel free to recreate the redirect, so long as you actually point the redirect to the correct target article. If you need assistance with that, I'm happy to help; just leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll see what I can do. Thanks! UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 17:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:SLAC_0102.jpg[edit]

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:SLAC_0102.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 09:44, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:PG SLA.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. September 2010[edit]

Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content, as you did to the page Category:Sri Lanka Home Guards. Blank pages can confuse readers, and are overall not helpful to the Wikipedia project; furthermore, blanking a page is not the same as deleting it.

If the article you blanked is a duplicate of another article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalized, please revert it to the last legitimate revision. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please use the appropriate deletion process. War rape in Sri Lanka[edit]

In order to be fair, and avoid further interruption, I'm noticing all editors involved in this article that the "Sri Lanka" section was deleted. No-one should add any content until we meet concensus on the article's talkpage here. Anyone can also ask question and offer reliable sources on there. Thanks and happy editing... ~ AdvertAdam talk 10:40, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
