Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Prospect Hill Cemetery (Washington, DC). For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.geocities.com/prospecthillcem/History.html in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Prospect Hill Cemetery (Washington, DC) with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Prospect Hill Cemetery (Washington, DC) with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Prospect Hill Cemetery (Washington, DC) saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you want to edit constructively, take a look at the welcome page. Thank you. • nancy • 19:32, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replies to the questions you left on Prospect Hill Cemetery talk page[edit]

Hi there Wenzela, I saw your questions on the Prospect Hill Cemetery talk page. Firstly with regard to the copyright status of the article as you are also the webmaster the quickest and easiest way to remedy the situation is to use the second of the threee options may be the easiest for you which is to place a note on the website releasing the text for use under the GFDL (presuming of course you have the necessary authority to do this) and then link through to the notice from the Prospect Hill Cemetery talk page. Regarding your other query about finding images etc that you have posted youself, a quick way is to click on 'my contributions' which you will find at the top left of each Wikipedia page - this will show you a list of all the edits you have made and if you click on the one where you uploaded the image it will take you back to that page. Finally check out this page for advice about getting help etc. Hope this is useful and good luck with the article. Kind regards, • nancy • 20:52, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to Prospect Hill Cemetery (Washington, D.C.) (diff) was reverted by an automated bot. You have been identified as a new user or a logged out editor using a hosting or shared IP address to add email addresses, phone numbers, YouTube, Geocities, Myspace, Facebook, blog, forum, or other such free-hosting website links to a non-talk page. Please note that such links are generally to be avoided. You can restore any other content by editing the page and re-adding that content. The links can be reviewed and restored by established users. Does that mean I may not link the Prospect Hill Cemetery Washington, DC to its website which happens to be on Geocities? --Wenzela 13:21, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wenzela - I will help you sort this out this evening (UK time) & put the history back in. Now you have sorted the copyright release notice on the website all should be good. • nancy • 15:00, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your help! --Wenzela 16:07, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Washington saengerbund[edit]

A tag has been placed on Washington saengerbund, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion G12.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.Kateshortforbob 15:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Nordoestlicher Saengerbund von Amerika logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Nordoestlicher Saengerbund von Amerika logo.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:32, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
