Hi:

Obviously my first go at this. I am an employee of the Princess Grace Foundation-USA and we hold the copyright for the text on our site, which we would like to include some of on your site. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Christine- PrincessGraceFDN PrincessGraceFDN 17:40, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have nothing to do with the deletion of the page mentioned above, but I can offer some thoughts. Anyone could create an account here, then copy significant portions of your web site to an article, and claim to own the material and claim that it's not a copy violation. There are two issues. First, some kind of proof is required (not just an assurance). Second (and more fundamental) is that material on Wikipedia must comply with the licence arrangement you see when you edit a page (just under the edit box where you paste in the text).
Some fairly serious study is required to work out what to do in this kind of situation. I am not any kind of expert in the area, so I recommend you slowly read the information at User:Moonriddengirl.
There is another problem. Editors are expected to have a general interest in improving the encyclopedia, and people who have an obvious conflict of interest are expected to follow the guidelines at that link. Furthermore, the WP:USERNAME policy is very strict about company/group names.
Finally, please note that links to web sites must only appear in references or under "External links", and need to comply with WP:EL. Here I'm referring to your edits at Grace Kelly. I realize this is all a bit overwhelming – sorry. Don't worry about this last point at this stage. Someone will fix it. If I get time to look at it, I would be inclined to remove the URL because I really hate web sites that require the user to enable scripting and display a flash video. I suspect that some other editors might share my opinion and it would be better if you could link to a page which shows some useful content (helpful for someone reading an encyclopedic article on Grace Kelly). Note, however that this is just my opinion, and if someone finds your flash useful, they might include it.
Welcome to Wikipedia! Sorry about the difficulty of getting started. Johnuniq (talk) 01:38, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Nakon 16:58, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, your account has been blocked; you are welcome to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. - Dank (push to talk) 19:05, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
