Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum (Telugu: కృష్ణం వందే జగద్గురుం) (English: Praise Krishna, the Guru of the Universe) is a 2012 Telugu film directed by Krish. It has received universal acclaim for combining the art form of Surabhi and an action flick based on illegal mining in Bellary.[2] It features Rana Daggubati and Nayantara in the lead roles.[3]Mani Sharma composed the music for the film.[4] The film was simulatneously made as Ongaram in Tamil.[5] The film is also to be dubbed in Hindi.[6]

Plot

The film starts with Devika (Nayantara) documenting the illegal mining in Bellary by Reddappa (Milind Gunaji), a ruthless business tycoon. It is later revealed that Devika is not a journalist but an informer to the CBI. On the other hand, in Hyderabad, B.Tech. Babu (Rana Daggubati) is shown to be a drama artist who has been under the guidance of his grandfather Surabhi Subrahmanyam (Kota Srinivasa Rao). But Babu is not interested in acting and decides to leave for America to make a better life. Heartbroken upon learning of his grandson's intentions, Subrahmanyam dies the same night. Babu realises his mistake of hurting his grandfather and decides to fulfill his grandfather's last wish of making the drama which was written by Subrahmanyam. For this he decides to go to Bellary with his troupe. There Babu learns about his past.

The movie has wrapped up the shooting part and the post production works were also completed. Rana portrays lord Narasimha Swamy in a special song.[7]Sameera Reddy is reportedly roped in for a hot item number by director Krish.[8]Venkatesh to play cameo role in this movie.[9] Nayantara made special efforts for KVJ by dubbing for the role in Telugu for the first time. Sources reported that she is playing a documentary filmmaker in the movie and her role is the crucial part to the story.[10]

The audio launch of the film was held on Sunday (October 7, 2012) in Hyderabad. Rather differently, the film's director Krish and hero Rana Daggubati played the host apart from Gayathri Bhargavi. Nayantara who seldom attends audio events, also attended the function. Others who graced the event include Venkatesh, S. S. Rajamouli, Dil Raju, D. Ramanaidu, Sirivennela Sitaramasastri, Mani Sharma, Kota Srinivasa Rao, etc. Venkatesh gave the first cd to S. S. Rajamouli.[11]

Release

The Central Board of Film Certification rated it U/A[12] with 14 cuts in all and Violence in all fights has been reduced by at least 50%.[13] Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum is expected to open in 1,000 screens worldwide and is likely to outnumber Aamir Khan's Talaash in terms of screens in south India. The film will be released across equal number of screens in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.[14]
