FC Progresul Bucureşti is a Romanian professional football club from Bucharest, south-east Romania, founded in 1944.

The team won the Romanian Cup in 1960 and played another 4 finals in 1958, 1997, 2003 and 2006.
One of the clubs biggest successes was the elimination of Serbian side Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Cup competition in the late 1990s.
Surprinsingly, the club relegated to the Liga II at the end of the 2006-07 season, finishing 16th out of 18 teams.
In April 2009 the club was kicked out of the championship because of financial reasons and will start the 2009-10 season in the Liga IV. Prior to this, only a few days before, they were kicked out from the Cotroceni Stadium by BNR, because of debts.
The club started the 2009-10 season in the Liga IV, using players from the `91 and `92 youth squads.
