National Highway 9 (NH 9) is a major East-West running National Highway in India. Starting at Fazilka, the Highway ends at Pithoragarh while passing through the states of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.[1]

The Highway came into being by merging five differently numbered national highways in 2010. The highways that were merged included the Fazilka-Delhi section of Old NH 10, Delhi-Rampur section of Old NH 24, Rampur-Rudrapur section of Old NH 87, Rudrapur-Sitarganj-Khatima section of Old NH 74 and the Tanakpur-Pithoragarh section of Old NH 125.

Route

It starts at Malout in Punjab and ends at Pithoragarh in the State of Uttarakhand. The National Highway 9 passes through the States of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The highway connects several important Indian cities such as Malout, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Maham, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh, Delhi, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Rampur, Rudrapur, Sitarganj, Khatima, Tanakpur and Pithoragarh
