Piotr Fedorovich Nazarov (Russian: Пё́тр Фё́дорович Наза́ров; December 25, 1921, Kochki, Novosibirsk Province, Soviet Russia – April 19, 1988, Leningrad, USSR) - Soviet, Russian painter, Art teacher, lived and worked in Leningrad city, regarded as one of representatives of the Leningrad school of painting.[1]

Biography

Piotr Fedorovich Nazarov was born December 25, 1921, in the village of Kochki, Novosibirsk Province, Soviet Russia.[2]

In 1931 Piotr Nazarov family moved in Krasnoyarsk city, Eastern Siberia. Here Piotr Nazarov spent his childhood and teenage years. This time impressions influenced in the future on the formation of the young artist and choose the theme for some his paintings.

In Autumn of 1940, Piotr Nazarov was drafted into the Red Army. He was a veteran of World War II, participated in the Great Patriotic War, he fought in the infantry in units of the 5th Army.

After demobilization in 1946 Piotr Nazarov comes to Leningrad and entered at Tavricheskaya Art School, where he graduated in 1950.

In the same year Piotr Nazarov joined the first course of painting department of the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after Ilya Repin. He studied of Piotr Belousov, Mikhail Platunov, Valery Pimenov.[2]

In 1956 Piotr Nazarov graduated from Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture namen after Ilya Repin in Rudolf Frentz personal Art Studio. His graduation work was a historical painting named "Lenin at the opening of the first power plant in rural Kashino", dedicated to the first steps to implement the plan of industrialization of Soviet Russia (GOELRO plan).[3]

In years 1957-1970 Piotr Nazarov worked as an artist in various organizations of Leningrad, also he painted to order. Since 1957 Piotr Nazarov has participated in Art Exhibitions. He painted genre and historical paintings, portraits, landscapes, still lifes, sketches from the life. His personal exhibition was in Leningrad in 1981 year.

For the manner of Piotr Nazarov the characteristic variety of techniques, decorative, skilful of plein air painting. The coloring of his work is saturated, painting is based on the relationship of warm and cold tones, and light and shadow contrasts.

Piotr Nazarov was a member of the Leningrad Union of Artists since 1970.[4] In years 1970-1988 Piotr Nazarov worked as Art Teacher in Vera Mukhina Art Institute in Leningrad.[2]

Piotr Fedorovich Nazarov died on April 19, 1988, in Leningrad at the sixty-seven year of life. His paintings reside in Art museums and private collections in Russia, England, in the U.S., Japan, and other countries.
