The SM postcode area, also known as the Sutton postcode area,[2] is a group of seven postcode districts in England which are subdivisions of five post towns. Most of these postcode districts cover part of south west London, though SM7 and SM2 cover places in south west London as well as places in Surrey.

The main sorting office is in Sutton, however outgoing Mail is sorted at Croydon Mail Centre, and the area served includes parts of the London Borough of Sutton and the London Borough of Merton. Part of the Surrey borough of Reigate and Banstead is also covered by the SM7 postcode district and the neighbouring Surrey borough of Epsom and Ewell has some of the properties in its Nonsuch ward with SM2 postcodes too.
