Samsung Jet (also known as Samsung S8000), is a mid-range touch screen mobile phone released in June 2009 by Samsung Mobile.[1][2][3][4] It is styled just like the Samsung i8000 Omnia II, but is a feature phone instead and smaller in size. However like the Omnia II (announced at the same time), the Samsung Jet did feature a fast, 800 MHz processor, faster than most smartphones of the time.[5]
Specifications
- Display: PenTile AMOLED
- Resolution: 3.1 inches (7.9 cm) 16M-color resistive touchscreen of 800 × 480 pixel resolution
- Weight: 110 g
- Dimension: 108.9 × 53.5 × 11.9
- Battery Talk Time: up to 8.2 hours
- Standby: up to 442 hours
- Connectivity: HSDPA, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (A2DP)
Features
The phone features an 800 MHz processor, a 5 MP camera with 480p video recorder, a 3.1-inch touchscreen AMOLED display, A-GPS, FM radio, 2 or 8 GB of internal storage with a microSD slot for an additional 16 GB and a Samsung-developed WebKit-touting web browser entitled Dolfin.
OS-wise it's said to be running TouchWiz 2.0 which is a Samsung developed UI. The device runs Samsung's proprietary operating system for this mobile segment. The videos recorded by the phone are at a D1 resolution at 30 fps using a low bitrate 3gp format.
Android
A group of developers (with some of the Darkforest forum) have successfully booted into Android, although calls and messaging do not work (yet). The project now goes under the name 'JetDroid'. Link to Jetdroid
