Arthur Barnett (businessman)Arthur Barnett – Arthur Barnett is the founder of the Dunedin-based department store. The existing Arthur Barnett page is simply a disambiguation page unnecessarily separating Arthur Barnett from Arthur Barnett Ltd. Any confusion between the two can be remedied easily by editing Arthur Barnett to say 'Arthur Barnett was the founder of [link]the eponymous Dunedin-based department store. pear 06:33, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

  • Oppose In terms of Wikipedia guidelines, what you are suggesting here is that the founder is the primary topic. I would suggest that if anything, the department store is much better known than its founder. Have a look at Wikipedia page views, and you'll see what I mean. • Oppose the store is the better move candidate. -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 23:11, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • If someone can find out his middle name/initial, Mr B's page could simply be titled Arthur [] Barnett, and the store Arthur Barnett.

  • No, that's not how names are disambiguated. It says in the naming conventions that "adding middle names, or their abbreviations, merely for disambiguation purposes (if that format of the name is not commonly used to refer to the person) is not advised."
