Future[edit]

Is it ok if I add the future proposed service to the page--Chip123456 (talk) 19:31, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, as long as you provide a reference. Simply south...... "time, department skies" for 5 years 19:48, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Could you assist me with a reference ...... Im not sure how to do it and I don't want to get it wrong.--Chip123456 (talk) 20:28, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have posted several links to your talk page in the last few days; the first to look at is WP:REFBEGIN, and then WP:CITE. Please also read the core policies WP:V, WP:NOR and WP:NPOV. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:31, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you v much. Also I have had some editors say that I cant post facilities as they think it's inappropriate. I beg to differ can I add facilities --Chip123456 (talk) 07:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WIkipedia is not a travel guide, it is not a directory, it is not a repository of minutiae or trivia. The info you repeatedly added to the article is all of that. Why not focus your info on the advice given above i.e. on providing referenced updates to articles? --Bob Re-born (talk) 08:18, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I said many articles have this so go and delete those ones as well. If not I will re add this to the page as this station should not be different. --Chip123456 (talk) 20:11, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:EVERYTHING, listing every single facility is non-encylopaedic knowledge - fine to mention that there is a ticket office and a self service ticket machine but the rest is just overkill and reciting information from the station information page at nationalrail.co.uk which is linked in the infobox. The statements about services to Westbury being popular before they were cut needs a reference otherwise it's WP:NPOV and/or hearsay. NtheP (talk) 21:47, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Other stuff exists is not a good argument. Threatening to add stuff if other editors do not delete other stuff is an even worse one.--Charles (talk) 21:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You say threatening I'm just getting my point across and I'm sorry if it has come across in a threatening way--Chip123456 (talk) 17:42, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Parts of Description removed[edit]

I have, just now, removed some parts from the "description" section, because a) they were unreferenced (WP:V) and b) I'm not convinced it is appropriate to an encyclopaedic article - it seems like excessive detail, which cannot be verified. (See this edit)

I will put a copy of the removed portion below, in case - possibly - anything might be added back one day, with appropriate references.

At the front of the station there is a ticket office and a self serve ticket machine. Also at the front there is a cafe and the disused platform. The short stay car park is at the front of the station and also a long stay car park as well. By the main station building there is a bus and taxi rank. On platform 1 and 2 there is a modern lounge (with announcement speaker) and customer assistance office. At the end of the two platforms there is the wheelchair access crossing. At the back of the station there is a bike park and another long stay car park. Announcement speakers are on used platforms as well as the ticket hall and the stairs. There is a vending machine on the platforms and outside seating.

Electronic customer display boards are on both platforms and at front of the station. Timetables and complimentary papers are at the front and on platforms.

There is a large side entrance at the front of the station, situated on the disused platform which is used mainly for when the main entrance is closed. On the disused platform there is also another bike park.

There is a footbridge linking the rear of the station to the front of the station, and another linking the main entrance and the rear entrance to the main platform area. CCTV and occasional police presence operates at the station, and received an award for it's safety ambience.

Feedback[edit]

Okay, I guess looking at Herne Hill railway station as a model, what we need here is some more about the background - what Chippenham was like before the railway came through and how it changed. Also more on the architecture of the station itself. Have there been any accidents here? Casliber (talk · contribs) 14:47, 5 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
