The reminisences of a granddaughter are a lot like original research as they are quite hard to verify. Is some or all of this information likewise available in a published source? Rlquall 02:22, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Romney Endorsement

[edit]

Clarification is needed on his endorsement of Mitt Romney's presidential bid. Did that endorsement stem from the 2008 campaign or Romney's possible 2012 campaign? --TommyBoy (talk) 06:03, 2 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely Election

[edit]

Edwards probably didn't expect to be elected: he benefitted from a Democratic Party mishap when the winner of that primary, Charles Ravenal, was disqualified on a residency issue: he'd only recently moved back to South Carolina. Thus, William Jennings Bryan Dorn, who'd lost the primary became the nominee. Ravenal backers gave only token support, and Edwards won. Some details are in the Bryan Dorn article. : I believe that the reference to Arthur Ravenal in the article is incorrect. The fellow who won the Democratic primary but was disqualified was one Charles "Pug" Ravenal. I believe that he later contested a race for the U.S. Senate and later for a House seat, but lost each time. Charles doesn't have a Wikipedia entry, so one would have to research other sources to prove this. But this Arthur4 sounds like a different (and older) person. I was wrong. See:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_D._Ravenel This is the other guy. This squares with the Bryan Dorn article. WHPratt (talk) 05:15, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
