James D. Dole Homestead location[edit]

James D. Dole Homestead appears to have gone missing. It was slated at one time to be moved to Hawaii's Plantation Village, but is not there now, as I verified by paying a visit to the site and asking staff there. The Plantation Village documents the lives of the workers, not the managers, so perhaps the relocation of the Dole Homestead there was rejected. I couldn't find out where the building ended up. A couple weekends ago, I also went to the original site of the Dole homestead at the end of Dole Road in Wahiawa, Hawaii. There is new construction on the same site and nothing resembling the original building nearby. Joel (talk) 21:27, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks; the question is what to do in the article without being accused of "original research". From the pic, it looks like the house was unremarkable architecturally (not a mansion). Might as well keep the historic picture and be non-commital in the text until we find out more. W Nowicki (talk) 18:06, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, "original research" is not welcome here, unlike Wikitravel, where it is prized. So I'll just leave it be. Joel (talk) 06:24, 3 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just put the NRHP project tag on at the top. It's actually a fairly common problem when a historic site disappears, often because of fires, tornados, etc. but also redevelopment or just being torn down. Photography reduces some of the "OR" problem; if you can get a photo of the site that would help - but please make sure it really is the proper site. Documentation in a newspaper, brochure, etc. would help. Pleaseask on my talk page if there is anything I can do to help. Smallbones(smalltalk) 20:57, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Clarification on Later Life section.[edit]

I feel the section involving Sanford Dole, and James Dole's Children rather confusing. It doesn't make distinction between the two.66.91.36.12 (talk) 21:11, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nice story[edit]

Who else believes that a 19th century student makes 16.000 bucks out of 50 just by increasing his savings? Luckily he then found a sunny south sea archipel now ruled by his cousin to fulfill the bachelor's mission at the age of 22. That presentation is based on which reference btw? 84.141.29.239 (talk) 11:51, 4 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
