Requested move[edit]

In July 2006 this article was moved from "John Southworth (martyr)" to "Saint John Southworth", with the explanation giving as "per naming conventions". Because the naming conventions for saints actually prefer to not use the honorific "Saint" in article titles, I am putting in a request on the requested moves page under "contested moves" to move the article back to John Southworth (martyr). If you object to this move, please comment on the requested move page. -- Pastordavid 21:41, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Went ahead and boldly moved back. -- Pastordavid 16:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The actual date of the Feast Day[edit]

The article says his feast day is only celebrated in Westminster* and that it is celebrate on June 27. But my edition of the Martyrologium Romanum (2004) records it as today, June 28. Did it get transferred to the 27th in the 2005 revision, or is the article mistaken?

  • Probably because depending on which day is the right one, the universal memorial is either St. Cyril of Alexandria or St. Irenaeus of Lyons

The date of the Roman (or any other) Martyrology needs not to be the date of the feast which could be, by several reasons, another date. Of course the Martyrology lists the actual date of the martyrdom and is read in on this day (or the evening before).--Medusahead (talk) 07:56, 20 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
