Chinese name column[edit]

Only the first section has a Chinese name column. This is sortable, but I can't see under what basis. Any thoughts? A separate column is presumably only justifiable if sorting works and is useful. Thanks. Kleinzach 06:52, 6 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To follow up on this. My understanding is that Chinese names are normally ordered by pinyin (i.e. alphabetically) so sorting would be the same as by first column name, in other words the separate column is redundant. Any comments? Kleinzach 03:43, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The Chinese names are ordered by stroke order. So Sanbaimeng Power Station comes first when ordered by Chinese name, because san () is three strokes and so the simplest, where as Beilun Power Station is first when ordered alphabetically. Ergo the Chinese name column is not defunct. For more info, look at 2008 Summer Olympics opening ceremony#Parade of nations for a description of how the parade was ordered. By type of initial stroke? Is that it? And then by number of subsequent strokes? But that's not what I am actually seeing. Is there a name for this system? (Stroke order refers to the internal order in a character.) Can you point me to any Manual of Style pages that recommend this system? Thanks. Kleinzach 11:27, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
