Gay Marriage[edit]

He didn't say he supported gay marriage, he said, "if you want to marry a shoe, I'll marry you". I think that it is a leap to say that he "supports" gay marriage. I think that the sexual preference of many pieces of footwear would be difficult to determine. The way I took it was that it was a non-issue to him and seeing as his platform consists of one issue, that is consistent with his message. Unless he has actually stated that he supports a law that would have the state recognize marriages between homosexuals, I think this should be clarified or deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.27.13 (talk) 08:16, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual preferences of shoes aside, this is a qualified stance, leaning to support. The line should stay unless proven otherwise Amog | Talkcontribs 08:18, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

At the very least, many would consider equating marrying shoes with marrying homosexuals to be derogatory. The fact is that he never did say he supported gay marriage. Stating that he supports it on this page is an assumption based on an unclear comment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.27.13 (talk) 08:21, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the comment stays, the context should be added and the assumption removed. Like this, "In response to a question on whether or not he supports gay marriage, McMillian says, "If you want to marry a shoe, I'll marry you". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.243.27.13 (talk) 08:28, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

delete[edit]

not sure why it should be deleted - the party gets votes, and is covered in newspapers. Tduk (talk) 05:40, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Website[edit]

www.rentistoodamnhigh.com looks like a totally fake website (links to books supposedly written by McMillan don't go anywhere; the twitter that it links to is unverified) and a whois check says that it's owned by "Leftys Corner Corporation." Someone should probably take it down! —Preceding unsigned comment added by MXMissles (talkcontribs) 02:31, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indented line Yeah, I'm pretty sure the actual website has a dot org address. www.rentistoodamnhigh.org 174.106.23.252 (talk) 01:42, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Um..[edit]

Shouldn't "The main position of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party is that rent in the city of New York is too high for the residents..." read "The main position of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party is that rent in the city of New York is too damn high for the residents and..." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.140.146.26 (talk) 20:13, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What, no meme?[edit]

I'm not exactly up on the internet meme that launched the RITDH party into the national platform, but surely someone here does. Could they add that please? --JY23 (talk) 03:27, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is no meme.--AerobicFox (talk) 18:34, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources[edit]

Of 22 cites currently on the page, 14 are from McMillan. While we might use some primary sources, there seems to be too much in this article being drawn from too little. - SummerPhD (talk) 03:48, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I added the three best non-primary sources I could find to the LGBT policy paragraph. Too many? Too poor of sources? Best, Startswithj (talk) 04:06, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Antisemitism[edit]

I think this article ought to mention that McMillan blames the Jews, specifically those who follow Reform Judaism and Conservative Judaism, for the September 11 attacks. He claims to have the support of Orthodox rabbis who feel the same way, but his views are still quite disturbing: [1]. Stonemason89 (talk) 19:30, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Weird. Sometimes the link works for me, sometimes it doesn't. In any case, this is weak sourcing for a controversial claim about a living person. The source is a blog. It cites three sources, two of which are blogs. The final source, the NY Times, while reliable, does not support the claim. All it says is: "...he was called an anti-Semite during his mayoral run in 2005 for blaming rent problems on Jewish people." Note a reliable source saying he was called an anti-Semite is not the same as a reliable source calling him an anti-Semite. The rest of the claim (reproduced above) is not found in a reliable source that I have found. If reliable sources call him an anti-Semite or have him making absurd claims, the statements might belong in this article and/or the article on McMillan himself, depending on context and WP:WEIGHT. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:52, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I completely agree with SummerPHD. Find some sources that are actually reliable before discussing to include this. Truthsort (talk) 18:19, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2012 Presidential Campaign[edit]

Mr. McMillan announced at CPAC on Friday, 2/11 that he would be running for President in 2012 and would be "rocking Barack Obama's black ass." This seems significant to make it on the page. source- http://revolutionarypolitics.tv/video/viewVideo.php?video_id=13921 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.141.214.9 (talk) 13:04, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism[edit]

It needs a criticism section SomeDudeWithAUserName (talk) 22:45, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lol. Criticism sections are frowned upon all throughout Wikipedia and are discouraged. Current existing criticism sections should not even exist, let alone new ones proposed.AerobicFox (talk) 23:03, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

As my additions have been removed, should it be noted in the first sentence that RITDH is an American political party? This seems like a very basic and obvious thing to mention, and the objection that it is "unnecessary" makes little sense, given how common it is in other articles about political parties. Thanks. 74.39.72.117 (talk) 22:29, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"...in the state of New York, that has nominated candidates for mayor of New York City in 2005 and 2009, and for governor and senator..."
Saying New York state, mayor of New York, governor and senator makes "American" redundant. Much as saying 2005, 2009, 2010, 2005 and 2010 means specifying 21st century isn't necessary. - SummerPhDv2.0 00:29, 1 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
