RNC lawsuit[edit]

If you have edits, please do not delete the entire section. The suit does indeed exist, and is very relevant to this article. Fix the errors or tag it. As the case develops, the suit will likely merit a new article as well. I previously inserted the following link which was labeled by Fat&Happy as unreliable. I fail to see why. Please reinsert link (and add others) if it passes muster: GOP DELEGATES SUE TO BE FREE FROM ROMNEY is the title of the article, and the source is: http://www.wnd.com/2012/06/gop-delegates-sue-to-be-free-from-romney/ JLMadrigal (talk) 13:53, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's rather the point, isn't it; it doesn't pass muster. Perhaps you could do a review of the multiple discussions of WND/World Net Daily at the reliable sources noticeboard.
As re-added, the story at least has reliable sources, but gives excessive weight to the story, and particularly to the inflammatory claims of one party to the suit. I don't feel like giving it a proper trim and edit right now, but will clean it up later if nobody else does in the interval. Fat&Happy (talk) 15:49, 20 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I think the 'lawsuit' will go nowhere and the judge will question jurisdiction (state Republican leadership is not under federal courts). Nevertheless, it probably has a minor place in 2012 history showing a precedence for what does not work. See Talk:Republican_Party_presidential_primaries,_2012#Politifact_rates_Ron_Paul.27s_claim with two references; one was replaced later — the second was even better but never made it in because the website is on the WP blacklist. You can lie and deceive if you are 'mainstream' but some good alternate sources are not allowed, unless you ask for an exception. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 01:43, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
These are national delegates, not state delegates. -- Avanu (talk) 02:53, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, however they have allegiance to their respective states that they represent in the United States of America. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 12:07, 27 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ron Paul to still make impact at the Convention[edit]

Ron Paul and his supporters are indeed still trying to make an impact at the RNC. The article makes it seem as though he's finished, but he's not, and this needs to be addressed to be fair to the Ron Paul supporters, and to appear unbiased, which, in its current state, fails at doing. This needs to be included in the article, here's the source links.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jul/31/inside-the-beltway-ron-pauls-not-done-yet/

http://www.washingtontimes.com/multimedia/image/20120731-205044-pic-791664504jpg/

Ron Paul is still a candidate for President and this needs to be realized.

It isn't over yet.

True, so true. Be sure to add notable references into this WP article! Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 13:52, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Paul is technically a candidate. He may have an effect. What effect that will be is pure speculation. He might (probabbly!) not even get to speak at the convention. Most likely his supporters will just make a bunch of noise. He has 0 chance of winning unless off of Romney's pleged delegates go faithless at the last minute, which is very unlikely, and the possibility of which is not being widely discussed. Inclusion of such hypotheticals would be WP:OR or at a minimum WP:UNDUE at this time. Gaijin42 (talk) 15:00, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My point exactly; however, Paul-people want to influence the future, not win the Nomination. [1] today announces "WE ARE THE FUTURE RALLY" for Sunday, Tampa Bay. If someone wants to put that in the article, that would be encouraged. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 01:55, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Paul's Tampa Bay rally[edit]

We need some sources for the Tampa Bay event. Just scanning the list of speakers, I'd say the most notable speakers, and probably the best to add, would be Paul's son Rand, Lew Rockwell (a long time Paul booster and operator of the eponymous website), and Justin Amash, who I've read is considered Paul's intellectual heir in the House. —Torchiest talkedits 22:31, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The best source is the program agenda (for Sunday, tomorrow). Sorry I missed your prior discussions how the material would fit into the article. I feel it is up to the supporters of Ron Paul — others like myself can contribute elsewhere. Of course, we will watch and make sure everything is proper. [[2]] — Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 23:40, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good stuff. To think this could've been handled so much easier if someone had just politely asked: "hey, could you provide a list instead copying the whole thing in talk?"
On topic: I read that the RNC is cancelling the first day due to the tropical storm/hurricane. This might affect Paul's schedule as well. Naapple (Talk) 23:46, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Turns out—not deterred: The rally drew 8,000 by one report and 11,000 by another. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 15:04, 28 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'll give others a chance to add some of this to the Article. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 15:02, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I restored this post. It think it's all way too much to go into the article, but perhaps a list of some speakers and dates is appropriate for inclusion into the article (in a much smaller and trimmed format) , as it is pretty much the end game of Paul's 2012 Campaign. Naapple (Talk) 16:44, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Restored again. Ravensfire, you cannot delete other people's comments out of the talk page, especially mine since I'm not even the subject of controversy. There are plenty of examples where material was dropped into a talk page to be picked over and moved into the article. And before you scream paul-bot, look over my history of this page and you'll see quite the contrary. Do not delete other people's comments again. Next stop is the ANI. Naapple (Talk) 22:18, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Support restoration, you don't have consensus to remove this as it's not in mainspace and deals with talk pages. See the first comments. It suggests something to add which can be rejected or approved through discussion. At any rate, there are now other editors who think it should stay. It is not forum talk or soapboxing. Lihaas (talk) 03:27, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the planned one-day convention of Ron Paul is central to "Ron Paul presidential campaign, 2012" the name of this article. There has been nothing to write into this article because Ron Paul stopped campaigning and builds up instead to this moment. Too bad about tropical storm Isaac. Stay tuned for what happens. The nation watches. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 04:42, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Now that the one-day rally convention is over[3] some of the editors that have been so passionate about Ron Paul could add a paragraph. There has been nothing of note to report in the Article for a few months, and now there is. Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 06:25, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing to add, unless reliable sources have discussed it, and they avoid Ron Paul as much as possible. Gaijin42 (talk) 14:01, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Basically a last huzzah for Paul and a chance to make some noise. It's a campaign rally for a campaign that's dead. *shrug* Would have been quite interesting if Paul had gotten enough delegates to make the convention interesting though! Ravensfire (talk) 14:42, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Too bad about the USA media bias; too bad Ron Paul was not entirely conservative; but there are ample articles to add something! I am very interested to know where the ‘Black List’ and ‘Grey List’ are for Wikipedia. I searched and can’t find them, but sometimes, I put a reference in and it is rejected for being on the ‘black list’ of URLs. Does anybody know more?

I entered ‘Ron Paul convention 2012’ and got 52million hits. Check your best sources. FoxNews[4]; Time[5]; Washington Examiner[6]; FoxNews[7]; Houston Chronicle pictures[8]; C-Span video[9]; TheBlaze[10]; ABCnewsBlog[11]; and one of the best is DailyCaller[12].

If I add the paragraph, it would probably include the reasons Conservatives don’t like him. Do editors that supported Ron Paul more than I did want to put in their version first? Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 21:52, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Postscript: There are additional references by WP editor Avanu over at Talk:Republican_Party_presidential_primaries,_2012 — FYI, Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 21:52, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For google searches on a phrase, always include the phrase in quotes. Your search would have also returned hits for 2012 convention, etc. (And see WP:GHITS). For the black list, I started at WP:BLACKLIST and didn't see much helpful, but on the talk page I found the actual list. If you want to know why specific entries are there, see the blacklist talk page and search the archives. Note that's just for the English WP. There's also a global list (linked from one of those pages I listed) for sites blocked from all WP projects. Ravensfire (talk) 22:05, 27 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In Tampa Bay, Florida, at convention time[edit]

There needs to be a new section "Tampa Bay at convention time" ::

  • Pre-convention rally on Sunday
  • Rand Paul speaks at convention
  • Video tribute to Ron Paul
  • Behavior of supporters at convention
  • ((your-observation-here.))

Last evening (Wed) the tribute was shown[13]Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 13:43, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can watch the 4-minute tribute via Yahoo.com [14] Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 13:57, 30 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Paul supporters heading to Johnson's campaign?[edit]

I notice that nowhere in the article is there any mention of Paul supporters leaving the republican party to vote for Gary Johnson (or writing in Paul) in the general election over Mitt Romney. I'll try to get some sources up later, but I'm very surprised there is no mention of this at all in the article as it seems like a potential spoiler in the general election, and Romney supporters seem to be bumping up efforts to try and bring Paul supporters back to the party. - BlagoCorzine2016 (talk) 13:17, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that could be a good addition, if some good coverage could be found. It's clear Johnson has been courting Paul supporters for months. —Torchiest talkedits 13:33, 15 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Article needs editing to appear retrospective[edit]

Parts of this article are written as if the campaign is still ongoing. 86.156.225.116 (talk) 08:57, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're correct. You're more than welcome to be bold and make any corrections you see fit. Happy editing! AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 01:44, 25 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Include donations?[edit]

Please see the discussion at Talk:List of Mitt Romney presidential campaign supporters, 2012#RFC: Should a list of endorsements include people who quietly donated?
Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 06:09, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
