Star Trek or Star Wars?[edit]

COnsidering the graphics of this "prequel" trilogy, they beared close resmblence to Star Trek:Voyeger as well as other newer star trek series such as enterprise and TNG(although I think an updated version of the original trilogy looks alot newer). Other elements include cloth design like Queem Amidala's costume. She looked almost like she belongs in Star Trek. Some aliens here looked like they could also have come from Star Trek.

Aside from the poor making of these prequels the only positive thing I have to say about them is the cast,BUT NOT THEIR ACTING. The only thing about the prequels that beared a resemblence to the original trilogy are the 3 deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith all (only the ones with Padme' in them).I dont know about other fans of the original trilogy, but I found the 3 scenes the closest thing to the original trilogy.Nadirali 16:38, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Nadirali[reply]

They all were inspired by Foundation (Asimov novel). Pikiwedia98461 (talk) 19:09, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Prequel Trilogy DVD Collection?[edit]

I've seen plenty of Trilogy DVD sets for the original Star Wars trilogy, but is there or will there be a Trilogy DVD set for the Star Wars prequel trilogy? --QQQ (9-19-07) —Preceding signed but undated comment was added at 17:13, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

This article should be renamed to Star Wars (prequel film series) to bring it inline with the naming convention pertaining to film series. Let's discuss. - LA @ 10:32, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A move request was made for this page, but there was no consensus for the page to be moved. See Talk:Star Wars original trilogy for more information. Dekimasuよ! 08:13, 16 November 2007 (UTC) [reply]

Issues[edit]

I think, it should be addressed in the article that the prequels have so many issues:

-The Force being related to the midichlorians: If you can find someone with high midichlorian count (like Anakin) you can just clone him and create an army instead of cloning someone like Jango Fett. Palpatine cloned himself right? So why don't you do that more often? That is a huge plot hole.

-Separatists having battle droids: If you have this technology why would you need stormtroopers or clonetroopers? Some battle droids (commando droids) are much better than human soldiers. There wouldn't be any casualties.

-Rule of Two: That was totally an unnecessary addition. You can have many Sith warriors you want. This also contradicts Return of the Jedi where Palpatine and Vader were trying to recruit Luke, thus breaking the rule.

-Vader killing Jedi Younglings in the temple: How can Vader redeem himself and become one with the Force after doing something so terrible. Also, this doesn't make him more intimidating, this makes him less intimidating.

-Republic becoming the Empire: I always thought the Sith conquered the galaxy after many battles. This was weird, how did people of Republic approve this?

-Anakin born of no father: We still don't know how this happened. Palpatine?

-Leia remembering her mother: Another plot hole (She died while giving birth).

In my opinion only the Original Trilogy must be canon (along with Rogue One and Solo). I think these issues must be addressed in the article.

I agree with EVERYTHING you say except the last part. In my opinion, the films beautifully connect between each trilogy. Did you know that doing this is actually pretty hard to do? And Shmi is humanoid; therefore, we don't know the qualities of this; in the galaxy where Star Wars takes place, obviously there are no humans present in the films, only humanoids and alien species. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pikiwedia98461 (talkcontribs) 19:01, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Allegations of racial stereotyping - Growth[edit]

Please help me to fill this section out as there are a large amount of sources and academic discussions happening relating to this topic.--Nerdykat65 (talk) 21:02, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Inviting User:Toa Nidhiki05 to participate, as having reverted Nerdykat65's referenced content addition. David notMD (talk) 21:13, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm mostly against including more than a sentence or so on this because it almost entirely has to do with Episode I. We could summarize the issue and mention that those characters have reduced screentime in the next two films. Need to keep this proportional to the rest of the section, which doesn't go into too much detail about each film individually. UpdateNerd (talk) 08:10, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
UpdateNerd I had been incrementally shortening the contentious content, toward same goal of being proportional. Would you care to create an even shorter version? Retaining some/all of the refs that Nerdykat65 had provided? I do see that there is a footnote mention with references "Several different alien characters have been subject to accusations of racial stereotypes.", but in my opinion this is not sufficient given what many critics saw as deliberate, persistent, racial stereotyping via speech and appearance of animated characters. David notMD (talk) 11:22, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to. I expanded the existing prose into something of a compromise. UpdateNerd (talk) 12:12, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeing this expansion. I agree with David notMD here, that the mention is not sufficient as the coverage is extensive. The additions from Toa Nidhiki05 Nerdykat65 should be mostly restored, and then trimmed, in my opinion. Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 16:15, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
What UpdateNerd did was move the sentence "Several alien characters introduced in The Phantom Menace (including Binks) have been subject to accusations of racial stereotypes." from a footnote to into the text, keeping the four refs that were with the footnote. I disagree that this is enough. I am willing to address this, but want to hear from UpdateNerd first. A correction to this chain of comments the initial addition was by Nerdykat65; Toa Nidhiki05 was the editor who reverted that addition, twice. David notMD (talk) 17:01, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
With the amount of discussion of this both in the media and in academia, I am not sure why the entire section was deleted again. It was not only Episode I but continued on as long as these characters were present in the films. Nerdykat65 (talk) 18:22, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The point of Talk is to have discussions, hopefully to reach consensus, rather than edit warring (repeated reverts), which can lead to editors being temporarily blocked as cooling off period. Hence, asked UpdateNerd to participate here. David notMD (talk) 19:00, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to note that other movie articles have controversy sections (see Gone With the Wind), and I believe that the amount of discussion, as I previously stated, is substantial. I think that a section is warranted, including multiple notes of characters, not only Jar-Jar Binks. In addition I believe that having all of the citations I previously added, still included is important so that if people are interested further in this topic they have a starting point to refer to. Thank you. Nerdykat65 (talk) 19:30, 26 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nerdykat65 - You have stated your position. Toa Nidhiki05 appears disinclined to participate. Pyrrho the Skeptic and I agree that more content valid, albeit not as much as you started with. If UpdateNerd does not weigh in here with a stronger opinion, then you or P or I can bring back content. David notMD (talk) 01:43, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We should mention which characters and racial stereotypes were alleged. Further details like Watto being influenced by Fagin can be footnotes. The main focus for me is keeping this to scale because it details almost entirely with Ep I & only minimal appearances from returning characters in II & III. I'll take a stab at this shortly. UpdateNerd (talk) 06:06, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with placement in first paragraph of Reception versus its own subsection. in my opinion still may need some tweaking and use of the references that Nerdykat65 provided. David notMD (talk) 13:21, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
