To not merge General Zod (1978 film series character) and Zod (DC Extended Universe) as proposed; if not notable, consider future proposals to merge to General Zod. Klbrain (talk) 22:21, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:NFILMCHAR the character only has two non-cameo appearances in film plus one indirect cameo, but I'd argue that this article may meet the extensive coverage criteria. As for the other iteration of Zod, that article also fails the three-or-more appearances criteria, and extensive coverage appears to be questionable.

There is currently no "General Zod in other media" article nor "General Zod in film" article" so I propose that these two articles be merged to one of those destinations, given user concerns about both of them. Here's a rough draft I've proposed at Draft:General Zod in film

Merging the film versions to one article is a step in the right direction. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:01, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@WuTang94 What do you think about make the General Zod in film in "General Zod in other media"? We can also include Callum Blue's General Zod in this way. Redjedi23 (talk) 16:35, 15 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No. keep em seperate or do a Zod in other media thing JosephWC (talk) 23:16, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

But, why? Are different versions of the character.OscarFercho (talk) 03:26, 7 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm actually not opposed to keeping DCEU Zod up as I think there's plenty of sources and commentary to support this article meeting WP:NFILMCHAR's second criteria. "Donnerverse" Zod, on the other hand, only has seven sources currently and does not meet either criteria. I'll see if I can find more coverage on the latter.
Combining them into a "General Zod in film/other media" page was an idea to guarantee that we retain information for both versions, but with the current feedback, I may just make a "Zod in other media page", keep DCEU Zod, and if I can't find any more sources on Donnerverse Zod, merge that into the "in other media" page. And yes, I think Zod may have also been portrayed in Smallville and some of the animated series. WuTang94 (talk) 18:25, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - The two Zods are not the same version of a single character because they belong in different continuities and different universes. The classic movie Zod also lacks references and screen time to ensure its notability, but DCEU!Zod can stay as its own article per WP:NFILMCHAR. • Oppose I do not think it would be a step in the right direction to merge two different versions of characters just because the two happen to be featured in film, if either of them is not notable on its own it should be merged to the main General Zod article.★Trekker (talk) 12:14, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
