Lettuce production in China[edit]

Stem lettuce, a popular variety in China

  • ... that China is the world's leader of lettuce production (pictured), producing approximately half of the world's lettuce?

  • The article generally seems ok but it could use some polish. For example, the hook phrase in the article — "The country has long been the leading lettuce producer in the world" — is sourced to a marketing organisation which is focussed on the USA, not China. That seems weak when one can find a better source like this instead. The hook also seems a bit ungrammatical and the article could use some copy-editing — for example, paring not pairing. Note also that the lion dance involves "plucking the greens" which, in my experience, is usually lettuce. Perhaps there's a better hook there? Anyway, please consider these points and then I'll re-review. Andrew Davidson (talk) 18:24, 25 May 2013 (UTC)

  • Reference changed as suggested. 'Piaring' changed to paring. The article on Lion dancing does not conclusively mention the dance form to lettuce plucking. Done some c/e and changed the hook to the following.--Nvvchar. 20:35, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
  • ALT 1 ... that China accounts for about half of the world's total lettuce production (pictured)?
  • Thanks for the update. The revisions look fine and so the article is good to go. I tried out the DYK tools, looking for copyvio and such - no problems found. Andrew Davidson (talk) 11:15, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
