Edit summary[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! - wolf 06:36, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Page preview[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In the future, please use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the article will look like without actually saving it.

The "show preview" button is right next to the "publish changes" button and below the edit summary field.

It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. If you have any questions, contact the help desk for assistance. Thank you. - wolf 06:36, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing...[edit]

...to BATFE is problematic. Not a huge problem, but some changes are needed. As per the notices placed above, please add a brief summary to explain every change you make going forward. Also, when making edits to article, please preview your changes before saving them. That way, you are actually making just the single edit, not a half dozen or so. This is important, because these edits needlessly fill up the page history as well as all the watchlists the article happens to be on and last, but most important, it saves time and effort for your fellow editors that when checking your edit, dont need to go through every little correction you made until you finally got it right.

Another issue is repeat edits. When you make an edit, it will sometimes be undone or reverted. If you disagree and would like the edit you made to reiman, then per WP:BRD, you don't keep making the same edit. Instead, post to the article talk page your reason for making the edit. Typically, the editor that undid it, will then explain why they did so. From there you can discuss it and the matter is usually settled in short order.

Also, please ensure your edits are supported by reliable sources and that they are written in a neutral, encyclopaedic tone. If you need any assistance, pleaae contact the Help Desk. Thank you - wolf 06:36, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at BATFE. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - wolf 23:51, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: Your edits are unhelpful and despite them being repeatedly removed and multiple requests for you to engage in discussion, or at least acknowledge the notices posted here, you have continued to post the same or similar changes to that page, again using multiple edits to so because of all your corrections, and you have this far refused to communicate. This is considered disruptive behaviour and if continues, your account will very likely be blocked from editing. Stop making these needless, poorly written, unsupported changes and start discussing. Thank you. - wolf 23:59, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at 9-1-1. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. - wolf 00:03, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at California Highway Patrol, you may be blocked from editing. - wolf 00:09, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Warning[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at BATFE, you may be blocked from editing. - wolf 16:49, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at California Highway Patrol.

  • You need to respond to your talk page. You need to stop repeatedly adding unsupported, unexplained and unencyclopaedic content to Wikipedia. - wolf 16:51, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Stop icon with clock
Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked temporarily from editing for abuse of editing privileges.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.
If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.

You have been blocked for 24 hours because you repeatedly and disruptively added material to multiple articles, and you have ignored the numerous explanations and warnings here at your talk page. A person must have a good reason for adding material to an article, preferably a Reliable Source to support the edit. If you add something and someone else removes it, do not keep adding it. That would be edit warring, which Wikipedia does not allow. Instead, go to the article's talk page and explain why you think it should be included. If you have questions about how a talk page works or what you should do differently, you can ask here; I will see it. -- MelanieN (talk) 21:32, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

If you unblock me, I could put a source down on what I meant by incidents, I didn't mean to be disruptive. I also didn't know how to access the other warnings at first. I'll try to put the source on the cite page, if I can't then I'll put it down on the main page next to the sentence and you can put the source in the cite list, no troubles— Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.198.137.225 (talk) 20:33, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I believe the point has been made and lesson learned, and the block is no longer necessary. MelanieN (talk) 07:42, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also, why did you keep taking down my edits, unless if it's implied that CHP wouldn help out in a big massacre, why shouldn't I put that down, or where should I put that down. That's the incident I was talking about. BTW, Los Angeles needs to have CA, like the other ones. Or else people wouldn't know the states, if you're going to take down my CA edit, you might as well take down all the state edits. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.198.137.225 (talk) 20:38, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The block is only 24 hours, you might as well wait it out. Take the time (and more) to learn how to contribute more effectively. As I stated up above when I first tried to engage with you, the problem is not just about sourcing, though clearly need learn about that as well ("cite page"? - please see WP:RS & WP:CITE. Then have a look how other content is supported by "refs"). But start by reading through the 'welcome' template above and the links contained therein. Read through all the notifications and warnings here, along with all their links as well. Another problem with your edits is their wording. We don't write things like "big incidents" and "Lotsa problems". Many of your edits are not encyclopaedic in tone. Others are simply not needed. Going forward, you will need to start communicating with other editors. Once and edit of yours has been removed or reverted, then don't make it again. Instead, discuss it on the article talk page with the editor that reverted you. Lastly, I would encourage you to create am account. It's not required, but there are benefits to doing so. - wolf 02:25, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thanks!, I plan to leave the page forever. I won't ever be back on here again. Now looking back at it, I think it's good the way it is. I also learned a lot from this misunderstanding so I thank you for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.198.137.225 (talk) 21:33, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That is your choice, or course, but once unblocked, you are welcome to continue editing, just please heed the advice you've been given here. - wolf 02:43, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yah, just remember to put , CA for Los Angeles in the Field Divisions sections of the ATF webpage, it doesn't make sense without it knowing that all the other cities have their state names. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.198.137.225 (talk) 22:44, 24 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'll take a look at it. - wolf 05:43, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the block. I think you understand now and will not make the same mistakes again. The block was basically a way of getting your attention because you weren't responding to anything else. If you pay attention to what people tell you, chances are you will never get blocked again.

Don't leave forever. There is lots of work to be done here, and we all make mistakes at first. If you do decide to stay you might want to register a username (it's free and they don't ask for any of your personal information); then you can have a permanent record of the edits you make. By the way, about city names, we have a tradition here called WP:USPLACE. We follow the same rules as the AP Stylebook, namely: we always name the state with the city EXCEPT for about 40 named cities where the state is left out. Those are big recognizable cities like Baltimore, Chicago, Milwaukee - and Los Angeles. In other words we don't need to say "California" after Los Angeles. -- MelanieN (talk) 07:42, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have fixed the cities listed there so that they all comply with WP:USPLACE. -- MelanieN (talk) 15:34, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Original research[edit]

"Look at pictures" is not proper sourcing. There are occasions where that can be used, but print sources are needed in most cases to establish due weight and appropriateness for inclusion. Use the print sources you have. See WP:OR Acroterion (talk) 03:21, 4 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

February 2019[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Alcohol (drug), it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Donner60 (talk) 04:00, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

April 2019[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, Kahoot!. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them, and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. However, keep in mind that even on the talk page of an article, you should limit your discussion to improving the article. Article talk pages are not the place to discuss opinions of the subject of articles, nor are such pages a forum. Thank you. Julietdeltalima (talk) 16:48, 8 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
