Hi, my Richard Blumenthal article might be boring, but at least I know how to login to Wikipedia! - Ta bu shi da yu 11:32, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Before adding items to Template:In the news, please first add it to current events and update the subject article. See Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page for full guidelines. --mav 06:09, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Talking about smoking ban ? It was already in current events (by somebody else) and the article was indeed (by somebody else) updated ! Just one line, though ..... I just copied and pasted the line over to ITN. Never mind. It's old news and should be off ITN by now regardless ...... Glad to see you back, anyway.  :-) --199.71.174.100 02:03, 14 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Protection

I'm not sure if you'll see this, I have only just got your message from last night. I do know that adding the notice does not protect pages, which I had already done to the pages I added the tag to. It is standard procedure to add the notice to pages which have been protected so that people who do not have admin priveleges can see why they cannot edit an image. Rje June 30, 2005 11:26 (UTC)

Ignore that. I have just found out that page protection is not working. I had protected the pages in question, but the system does not seem to be stopping anyone from editing these pages. Rje June 30, 2005 12:01 (UTC)

Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia, as you did to Jack Bauer & Four Great Inventions of ancient China. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. --199.71.174.100 06:30, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

ITN suggestions

Thanks very much for your suggestions. I've implemented the changes on Nepal and Cyclone Monica. My feeling is that more info would be required for the women at Iran soccer matches story, but great work picking up this development. If anything more comes to hand, this could be a good item. Harro5 06:49, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your quick response. -- 199.71.174.100 06:56, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Creating an account

Why have you yet to register an account on Wikipedia? You seem to be everywhere on Wikipedia that involves the main page at present, and everything you write is great, and so I'm almost disappointed that you are reluctant to create an account. Just look at all the benefits! Anyway, it's your prerogative, so just keep doing what you're doing, either as an anonymous IP or a member of the community. Harro5 08:24, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind words, Harro5. To be honest, Wikipedia is too addictive. I'm sure that I won't get any (real) work done if I get any more fun features that come with an account. I really should be crunching numbers and drawing graphs at this computer. Thanks. :-) -- 199.71.174.100 08:39, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
You don't really get any new features, just a more reliable way of ensuring that your edits don't get mixed up with other people's using the same IP address...it really is a good idea as well as editorial courtesy :) --Bookgrrl holler/lookee here 01:39, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your input today on my ITN comments re: Hurricane Noel and the ITN FAQ. I echo Bookgrrl: you get no more features and no more addictive potential with a username account, but it would distinguish your reputable comments from unethical users at the same IP. Frankly, IMHO a comment signed with an IP gets less respect, intuitively and immediately, than one signed with a registered username, who at least has gone to the small trouble of creating an account. From what I've seen, your input is too useful to be contaminated by vandals at the same IP. Regards, Unimaginative Username 21:09, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Misunderstanding, has been resolved. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Digitalme (talkcontribs) 15:50, 21 May 2006.

Re: Vandalism ?

I reverted your edit to Current events, because inserting stuff like that into a page is considered spamming at the least, and can also be considered vandalism. Now, I never said that you committed an act of vandalism, I only warned you for inserting items like the ones you did. The appropriate place for such things is the talk page of the article in question. If you must put something on the page itself, you should do it like this:

<!--comment-->

This is invisible on the page, but still readable in the source, and when the page is being edited. --digital_me(Talk)(Contribs) 15:30, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Well, you may not have notice that Wikipedia:Make_omissions_explicit was rejected by the community, so the policy contained within doesn't apply anymore. Secondly, the method you used was still inappropriate, even by that policy. The proper method would be by HTML comments, and the talk page.--digital_me(Talk)(Contribs) 15:49, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Wrongly attributed comment

Sorry about that, there was so much IP activity going on on my talk page, I just mixed two edits up. As for WP:ANI, it's not neccessary, I had the guy who was making those comments blocked. Thanks for the support though. --digital_me(Talk)(Contribs) 16:24, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Re: re: "subst:"

Theres a reason I don't subst {{unsigned}} templates, and you just witnessed it. It can get really annoying to figure out what is a user's signature, and what is the subst'ed unsigned template.--digital_me(Talk)(Contribs) 16:26, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Updated DYK query Did you know? was updated. On 30 August, 2006, a fact from the article World Cup of Pool, which you recently nominated, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. Userpage

Per your request, I restored the user page for this IP account. If you registered for a user name, you wouldn't have this problem. :) NawlinWiki 23:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

I've deleted it again. In edit summaries to the user page, someone has listed people they think have made edits from the IP address, and I think that's inappropriate. -- Samir 05:52, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Inappropriate ? Not sure why, but can I start over ? Please turn the link blue. --199.71.174.100 16:35, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Many people use your IP address. If you put down "Dr. so-and-so" probably made this edit in an edit summary on your user page, that's inappropriate. -- Samir 17:01, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Samir, thanks for specifying what you think was objectionable, but I still don't see what's inappropriate about those edits. Those weren't wild guesses. Anyways, may I have the link to my userpage turned blue, please? I would like to start over. --199.71.174.100 22:14, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for showing me the above article. I've arranged blocks for the creator over at WP:AIV recently, so it's great to see him making an effort to work collaborativly now! I'll try to do some fixing up in the next few days. By the way, reading the above thread, I'm not an admin so I can't restore your userpage, but I can create an empty page there for you if you wanted me to, for you to fiddle as you see fit. Yes, that would be a big help. Thanks in advance. --199.71.174.100 00:27, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Republic Day (India)

If this material really should be in Republic Day (India), why didn't you move it there?Fconaway 22:09, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I almost did. I didn't add there, because I don't have the references to back it up, and because the unwikified text might be a copyvio, a copy-&-paste job taken from some other webpage. I wasn't sure. Furthermore, Republic Day (India) looks fine as is, with more or less similar information, minus the mild POV. --199.71.174.100 04:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... Ferdiaob, I'm rather puzzled by your use of the {{uw-vandalism1}} template on my usertalkpage. What unconstructive edit or act of vandalism on Talk:Main Page are you referring to? I think you've mistaken me as another anonymous user, quite possibly 68.117.2.137 (talk · contribs), who did this. --199.71.174.100 (talk) 00:40, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

How is that "unconstructive"? --199.71.174.100 (talk) 23:10, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
It 'appeared' to be unconstructive because it edited another users comments. Alexfusco5 23:12, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm... Where? I didn't edit anybody's comment. I just posted my response at the bottom and updated the section heading. May I un-revert, please? --199.71.174.100 (talk) 23:15, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
I meant it appeared to because it edited the section header for a comment that you did not originally post. It is my mistake and feel free to make the edit again Alexfusco5 23:17, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
OK. No problem. --199.71.174.100 (talk) 23:18, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
