Re: Script oversensitive[edit]

Hi A1kmm, actually I don't have a script. I just do it the plain old manual way whenever I have time, and don't feel like editing yet another article. In your case, I haven't checked back the history, so sorry for welcoming you many months too late. :). Well, at least it started your talk page, didn't it? Dup auckland suburb articles.[edit]

I came across a few articles that seem to have been created by accident with all caps. Can you please nominate them for speedy deletes since you are the author. See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Articles are:

Similarly, some of the articles you have recently created appear to already be covered by existing articles. For instance:

Takapuna, New Zealand is already covered at Takapuna
Freemans Bay, New Zealand is already covered at Freemans Bay

This is probably not a complete list, so please consider checking whether other articles you have created are duplicates.

Please nominate your duplicates for speedy deletion, once you've copied any new content into the existing articles. You might also want to read Help:Starting_a_new_page#General_principles and Wikipedia:Naming_conventions#New_Zealand_placenames (which explains why the titles of the existing articles are better).

Following up what Avenue said, New Zealand articles are only given the ", New Zealand" addition to their titles if its clear there are other places in the world with the same name (as it says in Wikipedia:Naming conventions (places). A lot of Auckland suburbs were already covered (I wrote the first 30 or so articles in Category:Auckland urban districts). Some more which are now duplicated include Bucklands Beach, Mangere, Mount Eden, Orakei, Pakuranga, Point Chevalier, Remuera, Te Papapa, Western Springs... and a number of others which have already been fixed. Thanks for letting me know man, I thought that you would get a new message notice from my simply replying in my own discussion. But I am still new and learning, I did remove all the advertising information on my page as it is not allowed. I do however hope the information on my page IS allowed, simply because it's only about me. If you wish to review my posting of the Article Unseen Vision and can give me any advice on how to keep this article up, or if there's nothing that can be done and it simply has to go. Also I noticed there is no article on the word occasional? That is very odd, am I simply looking in the wrong place or can I edit this and create one? Any information would be greatly appretiated. Thank you.

Year links[edit]

I am quite familiar with the MoS. Please see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(links)#Dates_and_numbers: "...simple years (for example, 1981) should be treated like any other words and linked only where they are particularly relevant to the topic" (emphasis added. You will find that most Wikipedians would consider the linking of years to be something to be avoided in all but exceptional circumstances. I won't revert your year links in Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, but you might want to reconsider.

BTW, new notes on Talk pages belong at the bottom of the page, not the top. If you use the "+" tab at the top of the page, that's where they'll end up. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 12:49, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About your article on your blog (amxl.com)[edit]

Hi, I have been trying to contact you with a question about the modified drivers you made for the saa7134 which you posted on amxl.com. I haven't been able to get these to compile and I was wondering if you would be willing to update them to work with the new kernel (I use 2.6.18) - There seems to have been a few layout changes, etc to the kernel tree which causes the driver to fail compilation with an error about an undefined ~"VIDEO_MAX_FRAMES" (or something) The same goes for setfreq.c.

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay[edit]

Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.

Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
