August 2014[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page APS Bank has been reverted.
Your edit here to APS Bank was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/apsbank) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 09:44, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. If you intend to edit constructively in other topic areas, you may be granted the right to continue under a change of username. Please read the following carefully.
Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, website or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not, although if you can demonstrate a pattern of future editing in strict accordance with our neutral point of view policy, you may be granted this right. See Wikipedia's FAQ for Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia again.

What can I do now?

If you have no interest in writing about some other topic than your organization, group, company, or product, you may consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

If you do intend to make useful contributions here about some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
    • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
    • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Alexf(talk) 12:27, 21 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand the reasons for the block however the changes made were simply the correction of wrong data. Yes whilst I do represent the company I edited content for, the reason for my edit was that some of the data was incorrect and it needed to be corrected. Further contributions would be to correct such data, not to use the Wikipedia page for marketing purposes. APS Bank (talk) 06:04, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

One might argue that by adding precise addresses to the article, you helped driving the bank's business. The information on branches and ATMs has been removed from the article, by the way. Anyway, the username you proposed is already taken so please choose another one. Also, before I consider unblocking you I would like to be confident that you will never edit the article about your employer or any other article where you might have a conflict of interest. I understand the reason stated above for blocking. I would like to clarify however: in the case there is incorrect data - can I not edit the brand's page? Incorrect data was misleading due to recent changes in branch locations, hence the change requested. The locations were already there, and they were just incorrect, I understand that I cannot use wikipedia for marketing purposes. Should you still decide to not allow this change I will have no further use for this account. Thank you for your time.

Decline reason:

If you understand that you can't use Wikipedia for marketing purposes, don't ask for a name that contains a common abbreviation for "marketing". — Daniel Case (talk) 03:57, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thankfully, branch and ATM locations has been removed - it never should have been there, and adding addresses was, indeed, promotional. The Founder of Wikipedia has clearly stated that "those with COI should never edit the article directly....they should propose changes on the article talkpage, and try and sway WP:CONSENSUS". Is that your intended way forward? the panda ₯’ 19:00, 25 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Despite this claim, you below indicate you are only interested in writing about subject areas for which you have a conflict of interest. Yamla (talk) 10:16, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Noted on the above. In the case that the data should not be there I understand and will not perform any further amendments to the page. Thank you again for the clarifications as I never used Wikipedia to edit.

APS Bank (talk) 06:02, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering why you are requesting unblock now when your last request was seven years ago. 331dot (talk) 16:27, 27 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I didn't remember that a Wikipedia account was already created with this email address. However, I don't think there is a limit of time to request your account to be unblocked, isn't it? [[User:Michael Vella] (talk)

No, there is no time limit. Did you create this account? What edits do you wish to make? 331dot (talk) 07:55, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did. I wish to revise some info re. APS Bank page, as they are outdated. However, nothing related to business. I don't want to include info re. branches or ATMs, absolutely. For example, key people changed, we have more employees and there are new highlights to include to our history. [[User:Michael Vella] (talk)
