Speedy deletion nomination of User:Almentor[edit]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... this is a page talking about a business, it is talking about the services products and how it started, very similar to coursera lynda udemy and others --Almentor (talk) 18:43, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... please let me know what you'd like me to edit. Been working on this for few days for my company. There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Request reason:

I find this block unreasonable, the page was created based on Coursera, Lynda, Udemy pages. It is very similar to the information mentioned there. I am an employee in this company and I need to create a page for it where people can edit and add in information. If there is any sign of promotional content please clarify it rather than block me indefinitely and make me lose the chance of having a page under the name of almentor which is th ename of the company I work for. I would like to further explain; you seem to have a common misconception as to what Wikipedia is. It is not social media for companies to tell the world about themselves. This is an encyclopedia, where article subjects must be shown with independent reliable sources how they meet Wikipedia notability guidelines, in this case WP:ORG(those for businesses). Wikipedia has no interest in what a company wants to say about itself, or how it wants to be portrayed. Other similar pages existing does not mean yours gets to exist too, please see WP:OSE. Each page is judged on its own merits. Not every company merits a page here, even within the same field. I understand that many companies are interested in seeing a Wikipedia article about themselves because Wikipedia ranks highly in search results, but Wikipedia does not care about that. Our only interest is in building an encyclopedia of human knowledge. Thelast feedback was very useful. I read through WP:COI and WP:PAID. May I have the chance to edit the content to make it more subjective and declare the COI present. Also, in regards to changing the name. So I cannot name a page after a company name?

Another administrator will review your request. The page you edited was your user page, which is not article space. (Article space does not have "User:" in the title) It is a place to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia editing. It is not a place for Wikipedia articles. You will need to select a new username that is not that of your company. If you wish, a name in the format of "YourName of Almentor" would be acceptable. You don't have to use your real name. Your username must indicate you as an individual user and be used by no one other than you(or suggest that it is). I still feel in my view that you should not be permitted to edit about your company, as your effort was wholly promotional and it seems to me that your company does not meet the notability guidelines at WP:ORG at this time. If you are interested in being a general Wikipedia contributor, please tell what articles or topic areas you interested in editing.
