Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Britney Spears Gimme More.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphan "Gimme More" cover

Sorry for not tagging your image as "redundant"! I'm afraid I'm still a beginner and don't know how to do that. Still, thanks for understanding the situation; I'm very thankful that there are good people in Wikipedia. Sincerely, Bull Borgnine 19:00, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I just learned how to tag an image as "redundant" and the purpose of the tag. Thanks for the advice! Bull Borgnine 02:18, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:$100,00 mamal.jpg

Hi,

Just to say that at the time (5 September 2007) of the image was uploaded, the Template that I used was, I believe, the correct one at Template:Album cover article rationale because someone has now added to the list, I feel is a bit pointless and OTT. What do you think??? Seth Whales 11:19, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

"Does the page says that source citing is exempted?"....I believe the statement "This image is widely distributed in other venues, so its use on Wikipedia does not make it significantly more accessible or visible than it already is" just about covers it.

Lastly, being a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums and the link to Template:Album cover article rationale comes from this WikiProject I felt that this was good enough...and still do.... Seth Whales 17:50, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Screenshot

Thank you for your edits in the screenshot I uploaded; it really needed some fixing. However, I reverted your edit arranging headers because I think the fair use rationale is placed after the license. (I saw this on the fair use rationale guidelines page somewhere, but I can't find it again.) However if I'm wrong, feel free to revert my mistake. Thank you. Removing charts on infobox

Hi BritandBeyonce, I noticed that you are removing charts on the infobox such as the Sugababes's About You Now. Have the Wikipedis rules changed about charts on infobox and if so, show me the guidelines for this. Manm hk 13:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I wondered about that too. Why are you doing this? --John 14:01, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Me three. Sue Wallace 14:50, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

The field for chart positions was recently removed from the field. I'm still a bit hesitant about removing the from the field since now that it has been removed, there may be discussion from people unaware of the previous one, and if the field is restored for some reason, we don't want to lose the information. 17Drew 15:01, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, no worries. Sue Wallace 18:09, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks 17Drew. Just wanted some clarification from this. Have noticed that even if chart positions are in the source, it won't show on the article. Manm hk 19:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Yesterday, when i saw the recent edits on Spears' single Gimme More, I noticed that someone deleted the chart position field but it was restored by other user. However, upon reverting the edits, the field doesn't show. From this, I concluded that the field was already removed by the admins because 17Drew proposed to remove that in the infobox since its just a mess in the page. Thanks.
P.S. Thanks Drew for saving me. BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 23:58, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

It would be common courtesy that, if someone asks you to explain an edit, you might actually do it, rather than revert without a summary, like a vandal. Bretonbanquet 00:58, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm curious about this edit. Why did you delete the chart positions? - Che Nuevara 16:48, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Heh. I hadn't even noticed. - Che Nuevara 19:04, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Your user pages

Yes. Due to the way the Wikipedia database is structured, all supplementary pages to all the non-encyclopedia articles must be separated by the slash character (/). Look at User:BritandBeyonce/uploaded images. Notice that there's an automatic breadcrumb link at the top pointing to your main User page. With the old name, this breadcrumb link is missing which shows you that the software does not recognize that page as being "under" your User page. Please read Wikipedia:User page and Wikipedia:Subpages for more details. --seav 07:15, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Southern Leyte Subang Daku River.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Additionally, if you continue uploading bad images, you may be blocked from uploading. STBotI 03:36, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Done The image licensing and other infos stated is still subject for scrutiny. Please review. Thanks. --BritandBeyonce (talkcontribs) 11:15, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

I believe that this title for the article is more appropriate because of the way the title is printed on the DVD cover. It shows the words “The Beyoncé Experience” in all caps and then underneath this it says live. This separation in space proves that a brake should exist in the title, and therefore I used the colon. Media copyright questions

I understand that you're eager to help, and I in no way want to squelch that attitude. It's good and constructive, and is something we need more of around here. But I need to ask you to please take the time to thoroughly learn Wikipedia policy before you give advice on a topic. Contrary to what you say in this edit, we cannot host photographs of living people as non-free media. Since it's almost always possible to take a picture of a living person, except for a few exceptional cases, any such non-free image is replaceable and therefore not permissible under WP:NFCC#1.

There's a difference between a free license and public domain. While Wikipedia is happy to use the latter, we really only require the former. It's far better to speak in terms of licenses rather than PD because copyright owners naturally do not want to give up their copyrights. We don't want to spook them off.

Also, the reason we spell out email addresses like the one for permissions is so that they don't get picked up by spambots. Please leave it spelled out and not "translated" into standard form. Otherwise they'll get flooded with crap and will have a much harder time processing permissions received. TCC (talk) (contribs) 06:05, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Britney Spears Gimme More.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Britney Spears Gimme More.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:23, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:DC Nasty Girl.png

Thanks for uploading Image:DC Nasty Girl.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 02:24, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

Re:Recently uploaded image

Done I have expanded the fair use rationale of this image -- Naveen (talk) 10:14, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Image:Britney Spears Gimme More.png does not belong in the article because it does not meet WP:NFCC. There is nothing in the article that discusses the image or is better understood because the image is there. Similarly, the video is not an important part of Spears' biography, so there shouldn't be anything about the video in the Britney Spears article. The reason I didn't remove Image:BOMTV.jpg from the article was because that video had a major impact on her career and was, to some extent, controversial. I hadn't actually looked at the section, and as it stands, the article does not justify using the image since the video is briefly mentioned. I personally won't remove Image:BOMTV.jpg since the lack of discussion of the video is more a problem with the article than it is with the image. 17Drew 22:02, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Done. It's quite annoying. Yes I know that the image has no proper licensing and I am waiting for the image to be deleted this October 30 or not. However, bot removed the link in the page even if it was not deleted yet and the fair use was orphaned. I put back the image and deleted two tags in the image page. I made to visit the fair use review and ask them to review my image and its corresponding fair use. If this image will not pass, I will personally remove the link and nominate the image for deletion. --Britand&Beyonce (talkcontribs) 07:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Southern_Leyte_Subang_Daku_River.png

Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Southern_Leyte_Subang_Daku_River.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 07:48, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I see that you copied the history of Sogod (Otop) verbatim from the website. Please don't do that. Remember the message at the bottom of the edit box: "Do not copy text from other websites without a GFDL-compatible license. It will be deleted." As much as possible, paraphrase, and even rewrite it so that it reads much better. Thanks! --seav 09:41, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Image:Toronto District Christian High School logo.png

I'm sorry, but I'm slightly confused by what you meant when you said

Kindly fix your rationale on this image in a numbered manner.

What exactly do you mean by numbered? I used Template:Logo_rationale… was that wrong? Mr. Absurd 07:35, 4 November 2007 (UTC) (whoops, sorry, forgot to sign)

Yes, that makes sense now. Thanks. Mr. Absurd 07:44, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, yeah, it was non-sense to me, because at first I didn't understand what you meant by numbered. Mr. Absurd 07:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, okay, thanks. Mr. Absurd 07:59, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, if you could improve this article (add book sources and NON-fair use images) by November 6 then I will nominate this in T:TDYK. I can't nominate a DYK for now since I already nominated User:Alternativity's Siniloan_River. There's a rule that a DYK list cannot be focused on a single country. Talk to me if interested.--Lenticel (talk) 12:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I understand your situation since I just recently graduated. However, I'm sure you can do it. Don't feel rushed, you may opt not to nominate it at all if you don't want to. You can always create another article that could satisfy a DYK. I just thought that a DYK would be a badge of honor for you and an addition to the Tambayan's DYK list.

By the way, you can also nominate the article yourself (I'll help you fix the hook if needed) if you want too but remember that article's DYK nom will be only appropriate until Nov. 8 when the article hits its fourth day (admins might not have the time to put your article in the DYK list if you nominate it on its fifth day of existence).--Lenticel (talk) 04:22, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the image too but I think it is public domain since the original image should be at least 100 years old. Anyways, I'll try to fatten the article but I'll keep it on the minimum. --Lenticel (talk) 08:21, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

I nominated it. Watch the nomination for any comments and try to address them. I suggest that you don't add any more images to avoid fair use problems while the nomination is in progress.--Lenticel (talk) 09:08, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmmm... it might be derivative works which is copyrighted (Phil IP code is really confusing). I think you should talk to user:seav which is more versed in images than I am. Just hold on the image's links for now. Sorry for slowing down your momentum.--Lenticel (talk) 09:42, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
A derivative work is only one where the new creator or deriver (is there such a word?) has some significant creative input into the new work. If it's just mechanical reproduction, like plain scanning or non-oblique (i.e., not slanted) photographing, then there is no derivative work and the original copyright applies. If it's public domain, then it's still public domain. That's why it's acceptable to "steal" a picture of the Mona Lisa from some museum/art website as long as there's nothing creatively new in the picture (like a moustache on Mona Lisa? Hehehe). --seav 02:00, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I like the shorter version, no need to change it. Remember the hook is used for attracting readers and not to explain the article or the person's importance. Treat the hook like a newspaper banner, short and interesting. --Lenticel (talk) 08:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Mbell 791983 08:13, 8 November 2007 (UTC) I improved in paragraph the following: tourist attractions, malls, and hospitals. As a resident of Zamboanga City, I placed the article Famous Zamboanguenos which is very important because it lists the Zamboanguenos' contribution to the Philippine and international scene in sports, beauty pageants, entertainment and politics. In the education section, I include only major and renowned schools, colleges and universities in Zamboanga in paragraph form. The hospitals section is also written in paragraph form. For the improved article, please see Zamboanga City or look to the discussion page.

There are some entries on Philippine cities like General Santos, Davao, Dipolog, Pagadian, Cagayan de Oro, Ozamis which have the article shopping centers, hospitals and educational institutions not in paragraph form or similar to the deleted articles of the entry Zamboanga City. I hope you should compare these said articles as well as other Philippine cities for improvement and edit the article into a useful manner. I hope that this revision will be helpful.

DYK November 2

Updated DYK query On 8 November, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Marcela de Agoncillo, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
