Appreciation and apology

[edit]

After giving it some thought, I want to tell you that I appreciate your procedural consideration at the Talk:Rice–Eccles Stadium § Requested move 7 July 2018 (permanent link) discussion. Additionally, I am sorry if my tone seemed at all critical of your decision or suggested that I interpreted your actions as indicating opposition. Your note at the discussion suggested to me that it might have been taken that way, so it is important to me that I clarify that, since it was not my intent and I don't want you to feel at all criticized for competently handling such situations. Regarding the latter, thank you for that. In the future, I will be more explicit about whether my response is directed at someone or, like it was in this case, intended to express general support. —Nøkkenbuer (talkcontribs) 16:13, 5 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sidhu Moose Wala

[edit]

I have been attempting to deal with the article Sidhu Moose Wala after discussing it here. I draftified it but the creator, Preetzaildar8, did not follow the instructions and returned it to mainspace. I draftified it again and gave him a warning but he ignored what I said. I was just about to report him to AnI when I saw you had taken over dealing with the article. I was not best pleased, but at least it means I can get on with doing something more useful. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:02, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwmhiraeth: I did see your actions in the page log but not the more extensive discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol. I don't think AfC can satisfactorily deal with this article since it is borderline acceptable and the creator is unresponsive, so it will almost certainly end up moved back until the creator is blocked. Sending it to AfD would be my prefered option and I will do so that once I have done a Google search for sources. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:24, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You have improved the article greatly by removing a lot of the unreferenced material. I have put the article on my watchlist and will see how things develop. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:34, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Incomplete DYK nomination

[edit]

Hello! If you do not want to continue with the nomination, tag the nomination page with {{db-g7}}, or ask a DYK admin. Thank you. DYKHousekeepingBot (talk) 06:46, 9 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Frayae, Thanks for your comment. He is one of the widely known youth writers in South Africa, with even more books published than on the page. The fact that he wrote it in the 4oties and 50ties and that its still read today respectfully make him notable. Films and TV series has been done from his books. Kindly reconsider. Barry Ne (talk) 17:19, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Barry Ne. I think that the article is acceptable, but if you ever find any more references for the subject then do add them. Right now there are no references which indicate the subjects notability and prolific writers are not presumed to be notable. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:44, 10 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding Sephora UAE and KSA - I was told a subsidiary wasn't notable. I can accept that. It was suggested I merge the pages, which I did carefully making sure it was appropriately sectioned under subheadings. And now, it's removed again. There is value in this information - the companies middle eastern strategy and history is interesting. Please can you see fit to allow my edit so I can stop going round in circles. I should also like to add that NBC Universal Japan is a subsidiary of Universal studios - but somehow that and all the other Universal subsidiary's have their own Wiki articles. I think Sephora UAE and KSA should be allowed to remain. Thank you Rjwmccaffrey (talk) 16:14, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have restored the content to Sephora. There is no substantial problem with the content you merged and I welcome any further improvements you have for the article. Regarding your second point, Universal Studios Japan is a large theme park rather than just a subsidiary company. I can't see an obvious comparison. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 18:29, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Open Data Kit

[edit]

Removed the speedy deletion tag for the Open Source Software Open Data Kit. see talk page - hope that is OK for you. --Bert Niehaus (talk) 13:12, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From Talk:Open Data Kit.

This page was suggested for speedy deletion. It is Open Source Software used for humanitarian purpose.

The GRASS GIS is a Geo Information System that is allowed in Wikipedia??? Open Data Kit not Company and not a software.

  • The tagging of the first release with db-corp|help=off does not make sense.
  • . ODK should treated as any other Open Source Software - like GRASS GIS, like R Statistics Software.
  • GitHub Repository was added.

--Bert Niehaus (talk) 12:47, 14 August 2018 (UTC)

@Bert Niehaus: From the article at the time I tagged it. I saw the first sentence was The Open Data Kit (ODK) community produces free and open-source software and this suggested to me that it was an organisation. Db-corp covers organisations. Although you should not remove speedy deletion tags from articles, I won't be putting it back. There is no certainty the article won't be deleted later since I don't see any clear indication of notability. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 14:56, 14 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
