My RfA Nomination[edit]

Hello. I've been nominated for adminship here, and, of course, I declined here. How do I delete the nom page (if it has to be deleted)? Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 19:25, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Husond. A while back I uploaded some pictures for a new "project". The project is now disbanded as the founder was a sock. Could you delete the pictures. Board Candidacy[edit]

Hi! I'm leaving you this note because we've had extensive and/or productive interaction over the course of my time on this Wiki. I (yep, little ol' Jouster!) am running for election to the Wikimedia Board of Trustees. I would greatly appreciate it if you would please take a look at my submission of candidacy, and consider endorsing me, as that is a requirement for me to stand for election.

If you have any questions or concerns about this notice, please don't hesitate to poke me on my Talk page. If you object to this solicitation for endorsement, please do not hesitate to remove it from your Talk page with my apologies; it will not appear again.

I look forward to serving you all on the Board! Jouster  (whisper) 18:38, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interview Translations for the Signpost[edit]

Hello. As you may know, the board elections are just around the corner. As a service to the community, the Wikipedia Signpost is going to interview the candidates and translate the questions and answers to as many languages as possible. I am going to help with the Spanish translation and other users are going to make the translations into other languages. You can learn more by reading User:Ral315/Board 2007. As a Portuguese user, would you mind helping the Signpost by translating the interviews into said language? If you can't, could you ask another Portuguese-speaking user to do it? If you have any questions, please ask Ral315, the editor-in-chief of the Signpost, as I'm going on vacation until Monday. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 18:38, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Just saw your translation. Thanks for your work! Portuguese is easier than I thought. It's very similar to Spanish, like Italian. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 15:43, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, as a Puerto Rican, I am a native speaker of the Spanish language. Even though Puerto Rico is an American territory, one can't really get around the island without knowing at least a little Spanish. ¡Que tengas un buen día! (Have a nice day!) Su amigo, Eddie 23:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, again. Ryan (Ral315) told me to tell the users of the Spanish Wikipedia about the translations by posting a message on the local Village Pump (I left them a message at their Café, their equivalent of our Village Pump). Could you do the same on the Portuguese Wikipedia? Thank you. Yours sincerely, Eddie 23:16, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. That's okay. I'll get another user to do it. Happy editing! Yours truly, Eddie 23:51, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Portuguese translation[edit]

Sounds great - A.Z.'s already volunteered to help, but the more the merrier - it gets the translations done faster. See here for the main translation area - the article should be translated, and when I get replies on the questions, those should be done as well. Let me know if you have any questions. Ral315 » 20:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Progress[edit]

Hey Husond. I'm making progress, so I think. I have not really began to work on any articles, but I have created a Portal, that I'm still building, and my talk page count is up. I'm also going to get more involved in Xfds. Cheers. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 21:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glad you like it. I hope to have it operational by the end of June. Unfortunately, I'm going to be only semi-active the month of July. G1ggy thinks it may be a tad to bright. Leave a message on the Portal for suggestions and stuff. Thanks. --Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 18:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio images[edit]

I have tagged this pics Image:Goddess_(Small).png and Image:Dholavira.JPG. The uploader claims it to be a own work. But it obviously looks copy and paste. Can you have a look into this? I believe these fake tags jeopardise Wikipedia and expose her to legal suits. I found these images to be plagiarised from Google [1].

Anwar 18:27, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Its clear from this article that Archaelogical Survey of India prohibits photography on the Dholavira heritage site. Infact it seems, ASI also bars photography at nearly all of its site museums, of works with long expired copyright claims. Anwar 19:48, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion procedure[edit]

Hello. Is it appropriate to remove copyright licensing information from an image and then tag it for speedy deletion as missing source information, as is being done here? The user has told me not to remove his tags, so I thought I would ask you as an administrator for guidance on whether this sort of procedure is appropriate. -- Lexmercatoria 19:37, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fake tags can be removed as in this case.Anwar 19:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Husond, Since Anwar saadat (talk · contribs) seems to be ignoring reasoned arguments presented by Lexmercatoria, you and me at his talk page I have reported his actions at WP:ANI. Please feel free to respond there. Abecedare 20:18, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I saw that you changed your own phrase "com os candidatos" into "aos candidatos". Searching google for "entrevista aos candidatos" gives you only 512 results, while searching Google for "entrevista com os candidatos" gives you 9970 results, and searching for "entrevista dos candidatos" gives 73600 results. A present for you[edit]

Hello, Húsönd! I sent you my furry friend here a while back, but unfortunately while travelling through the Panama canal he decided to jump out and go for a romp through the country, and didn't return until recently - so his arrival was delayed a tad.

I love my long-nosed kusimanse, thank you very much for sending him! He cheered me up and I hope that this squirrel monkey does the same for you; he's great at getting rid of pesky insects around the house, no more need for Pest Control or fumigation! If he multiplies you may be able to set him and his 100,000 descendants at computers to edit wikipedia for you :)

A request[edit]

Step 1 for getting a request granted: bribe with lollies.

Oooh, Husond, gummy bears! Yay!

Step 2: Ask the favour from the person who is, by now, too helplessly under the spell of gummy bears to say no! ;) Husond, would it be possible for you to translate the following text into Portuguese for me?

We would love to use this photo to illustrate Name of page on Wikipedia. I was wondering if you would consider relicensing this as Attribution Creative Commons or Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons? We would really appreciate it! This is a great representative picture, and is a shame not to be shared more widely. As per the terms of the above licenses, you would receive full credit as the photographer. Regards, Riana.

No rush! :) Take care, Riana (talk) 14:46, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh goodness, what a romantic language, how could anyone resist! I shall inflict it upon hapless Portuguese flickr users as soon as I can! Thanks a bunch, hope it wasn't too much trouble. RfA thanks[edit]

Thank you for your support and comments at my RfA
Hi Husond, It still amazes me that otherwise "anonymous" editors take the time to place !votes and comments on RfAs. Whilst I would have normally thanked you properly at the time of you leaving your message, the importance of my not appearing to be canvassing prevented me from so doing. Now that everything has progressed successfully I can finally thank you. I intend to uphold a style of good adminship and will welcome your further comments at any time in the future, even if they are in the form of admonishment. I will be happy to help as an admin wherever and whenever I can --VS talk 00:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the semi protection you put on the above article is helping. However, I just noticed that you state that it is only for a period of 45 minutes. The match is now approaching 45 minutes, which is only half time. The full match is a minimum of 90 minutes (often lasting up to 10 minutes longer with injury time added on) plus on top of that the half time lasts 15 minutes plus. Is there any chance you could increase the semi-protection to take into account the full length of the match rather than just the first half? thanks ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 01:39, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for such a quick response, much appreciated. ♦Tangerines BFC ♦·Talk 01:44, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Husond! Could you look at that article talk? Several users are suggesting that it be moved to the Military history of Goguryeo. Also, could you explain to Jiejunkung that you probably shouldn't have a summary article if the objects being summarized count up to only 2? (Goguryeo-Silla wars & Goguryeo-Baekje wars {these don't exist for now} --> Goguryeo-Korea wars {nor does this}) Thanks. (Wikimachine 23:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Hi Husond. It takes time to understand User:Wikimachine's move and the arguments in Talk:Goguryeo-China wars. The main focus is moving the inconsistent and anachronistic title Goguryeo-China wars to the neutral and more descriptive "Military history of Goguryeo". I presented an equally controversial title Goguryeo-Korea wars to show the absurdity of "Goguryeo-China wars". In the talk page I repetitively stated that such titles should be avoided and should not created. User:Wikimachine's words here may incorrectly imply that I support the wrong titles. Finally, I vote to focus on the main topic, i.e., renaming the controversial title to the correct one. Don't let some users to lead us to other distractions.--Jiejunkong 23:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello both. Any controversial move proposal must go through WP:RM. Did anyone try that yet? Proposals listed there will attract valuable feedback by other users. :-) Regards, Húsönd 00:24, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's been listed there for the past week or so, it's been in the backlog for a few days. Currently 12 users support moving it, 3 oppose. I'm not sure what's holding up the actual move itself. —LactoseTIT 01:07, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I see... I'll have a look then. I have a bad feeling about this though. :-/ Húsönd 01:10, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you almost hear the theme from Jaws? Probably everyone on both sides appreciates you having the guts to take a glance over it. Thanks. —LactoseTIT 01:16, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Opinion requested[edit]

I noticed this article the other day and thought of you :) Out of curiosity, what's your opinion on it's choice of spelling for the English Wikipedia? --Duk 15:45, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I never noticed this stuff until recently. Just interested in various rationales for not using English spelling. --Duk 16:38, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goguryeo Archive[edit]

Sorry for archiving if it was inappropriate. I was following the Liancourt Rocks precendent, where an admin archived the discussion immediately after the move since the talk page was large and only about the move. Similarly, the Military history of Goguryeo page was over 100k and only about the move. The admin moved it in the Liancourt Rocks page so that a new discussion could be formed and everyone could move on; this was my intetion for the other article as well. --Cheers, Komdori 21:01, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

I was working all week and had planned on updating the Basque portal with the new selected this weekend but you beat me to it so I thought I'd thank you.--Joebengo 04:52, 30 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA[edit]

Thank you for participating in my RfA. It was successful, and I am now, may God have mercy on us all, an administrator. Look at all the new buttons! I had heard about 'protect,' 'block user,' and 'delete,' but no one told me about 'kill,' 'eject,' and 'purée.' He has been featured in about 6 magazines including Rolling Stones and been on 3 local TV spots. Thankyou

Thank you so much for your participation in my recent RfB. Though it closed with 72% support (below the required 90%), I'm still quite pleased at the outpouring of support shown by a fair percentage of the community.

I'm currently tabulating and calculating all opposing and neutral arguments to help me better address the community's concerns about my abilities as a bureaucrat. If you'd like, you can follow my progress (and/or provide additional suggestions) at User:EVula/admin/RfB notes. Thanks again!

A very, very special thank you for extremely kind words both during and after my RfB; you're one of the Wikipedians that I respect the most, and to make you feel proud is an enormous badge of honor for me. Thanks for uploading Image:Janitor's_bucket_with_mop.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 16:07, 3 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]

This account is spam only, it needs an indef hard block, not a 1 day block. It only exists to place myspace links all over as fast as possible, why would we want him back tomorrow? Until(1 == 2) 01:00, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I thought a while about it. This account isn't spam-only, as there were a few valid contributions before today's massive spam. That's why I've decided to block a single day. If tomorrow this user is back spamming, then an indef block is likely. Regards, Húsönd 01:03, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, if you look at the edits, there is not a single edit that does not involve feces, circle jerking, or spamming. I wanna give you a prize[edit]

Hi, I'm Javitomad, a Spanish user of English wikipedia.

I've seen you've improved some articles about Spain.

Because of that, I want to give you a Barnstar, the Spanish Barnstar.

(copy and paste this in your user page.)
