Links to user pages and sandboxes[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to user pages or sandboxes, as you did at FOSS4G. Since these pages have not been accepted as articles, user pages, sandboxes and drafts are not suitable for linking in articles. and such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. These links have been deleted, please do not re-add any such links, thank you - Arjayay (talk) 14:56, 12 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Mapserving. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Draft:FOSS4G, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. I can see from your user page that you have more or less disclosed your COI, but would be best if you also do it formally, per the instructions given above. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 15:07, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Links to user pages and sandboxes - Again[edit]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Sol Katz, you may be blocked from editing.
You were clearly warned, above, not to add links to user pages in our articles, but are still doing so - please stop - Arjayay (talk) 10:09, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I created the SolKatz award, and I've been maintaining the award for 18 years now, in honour of Sol. I am also one of its recipients. (I announced the call for nominations yesterday for 2022, and I noticed that my name was not linked as I am a past award winner). If you refer to 'disruptive' editing as to the FOSS4G page, I am one of the 3 founders of that event as well. The other founders are shocked that you deleted that page (which tracks the history of FOSS4G - the now popular Open Source event for geospatial). But you are not in this space so I don't blame you for being confused. Mapserving (talk) 11:53, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, a couple of things in response to your comment:
  1. Given what you say about your involvement with FOSS4G, and despite it being three weeks since I asked you to formally disclose any connection you have with this, I note that you have not yet done so. Please address this matter now; you can find instructions for doing so in the 'Managing a conflict of interest' section above.
  2. The FOSS4G article was not deleted; it was moved into the draft space, because it wasn't suitable for publishing, and it was subsequently declined for the same reason. It remains at Draft:FOSS4G where you are welcome to continue working on it.
Best, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:07, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
